As DM, things only happen if you let them, so you are in complete control. And roleplay is where I'm at my most brutal, so I don't think you can make a judgement call on quality based on that alone.

I certainly wouldn't consider myself in control and I'm not very brutal when I'm in the zone. My roleplaying is just higher quality.

They do some of the lowest damage in a souls game. Only class of weapons that are lower are daggers; but those are faster and still outclass whips.
