The people that hire a ton of immigrants unerringly vote for the guy who promises to remove immigrants. What did you think was going to happen?
They were told that it would just be the criminals and gang members, and they were stupid enough to believe it.
Some? Maybe
Mostly it is just that their hate and selfishness overrides everything. It is the same reason that pro gun republicans still won overwhelmingly after the massacre in Uvalde and farmers keep voting for republicans no matter how much they get screwed over. Because as long as they can believe someone else is suffering more, they are happy.
I think you vastly overestimate how informed these people are on anything related to politics. Most of them don't think any further than, "vote red because that's what I was raised to do."
While they simultaneously screamed that every immigrant was a criminal
It looks like their farms will be bought at a discount by the oligarchs.
What a kwinkidink considering this:
JD Vance gets rich by owning an app (acretrader) that helps investors outside of the United States snap up real estate deals (including many family farms and rental properties) that are then owned by people who have never and will never see those places and who ONLY own those places to obtain money and power in our country.
Damn, if only there was something in a program, maybe some sort of... project that would have warned them about it.
That would only be useful if it had a year in the title to help identify when it would start to be implemented.
Your question assumes capacity for forethought.
And the capability to empathize instead of just raw dogging every experience like it's a brand new thing that nobody could ever imagine or understand.
My favorite bit of the story:
“People don’t understand that if we don’t get more labor, our cows don’t get milked and our crops don’t get picked,” said Tim Wood, a dairy farmer and a member of the Pennsylvania Farm Bureau board of directors.
Oh, I do understand. I think it's your farmers that don't understand, when it's time to vote.
Here's the thing: they aren't asking for a reversal of the policy, they just want a fix to the problem. A solution that the criminal-industrial slave complex can provide...
"Arbeit macht frei" will soon adorn the farms that benefit from whatever solution this admin provides.
They blamed it on "spoiled Americans".
They're blaming this on liberals and "people don't want to work anymore" again. Because they're fucking mentally lazy and broken.
Tell me how you voted, and ill tell you how I feel about your plight.
What never ceases to amaze me is that people hiring undocumented workers aren't getting in major legal trouble, and that they straight up admit they were doing it publicly.
Assuming the mindset that we need to get rid of the big scary immigrants, how are the people hiring them not equally culpable?
Hey now, logic has no place here. You're also forgetting the foundational principle of our criminal justice system. It's not illegal if you have money and your motivation was greed.
Also, you can't punish individuals when a whole company does crimes, because you can't hold companies accountable.
Unless the company harms the wealthy, then some scapegoats might suffer some consequences.
And if your crime didn't hurt rich people. That's very important.
they were under obama. He deported people but more importantly he fined the employers.
Same mindset that complains about how ridiculous traffic is from the pilot's seat of a car, in traffic.
Girl, you are traffic.
With an attitude like that it's no wonder you're having trouble finding people to work for you...
If only one party had been proposing to fix immigration; only to have their efforts hamstrung by insistence we first "strengthen the border". See reference here: https://www.brookings.edu/articles/the-collapse-of-bipartisan-immigration-reform-a-guide-for-the-perplexed/
Article doesn't mention pay either...
Ahh yes, the informal rule named for child rapist Dennis Hastert (R) that has only ever been used by republicans.
John Boehner is a drunk piece of shit who was constantly crying in public because he was constantly shitfaced at work. Just throwing that out there. I speak from personal experience.
He was doomed to fail from the start.
It's too bad the punishment for what THEY voted for only applied to them, since they asked for it. It'd be nice if normal Americans could go on living our lives under a normal administration...
Well, goooooollllly. And gee-whillickers.
Now just who the fuck could have done this to us? How could Kamala and her cackle do this to such fine, upright REEL MERIKANS?
Well, lookee here. Gosh, I wonder if there is any correlation to voting and outcomes?
Also, is this guy stepping up to do the job, or is he "too spoiled"?
I think you meant:
"Ach, now who in the world went and done this to us, once?"
Image description: An image of an RSVP style card saying “A FORMAL REMINDER: You Voted For This. YOU ARE GETTING WHAT YOU DESERVE. NOVEMBER, TUESDAY 5, 2024 YOU MADE YOUR CHOICE.”
Hire legal workers and pay your proper taxes, asshole. Especially when your money is probably coming from subsidies anyway
Oh shit, its like they voted for this, or something!!
I'll do it for 150$ an hour plus benefits.
Huh. Can’t see any problems here. Have the day you keep voting for, buddy!
I feel so bad that some poor “salt of the earth” can’t keep the farms their daddies left them… 🙄
Not sure what to tell you dipshits if you didn’t know this would happen after last time. It’s a literal repeat for farmers.
That's why they had to be BRIBED in his first term. They expect those handouts/bribes again, I'm sure.
If those fat farmers would stop lazing around eating avocado toast and surfing the web on their iphones while wearing overpriced red maga caps, maybe they'd be getting some work done, right? Time for them to pull themselves up by their bootstraps and quit complaining.
seriously though, I'm tired of this whole "noble down to earth conservative farmers" shtick. I grew up rurally, more than half of them are right wing douchebags who asked for exactly this outcome. Hey you got rid of the farm laborers. Good for you and congrats on your big win.
that “free market capitalism” they think they have/had was worth it huh? pay workers more so you can find them locally, or if you cannot, close your farm. or fight to remove all borders (objectively a good thing) so you don’t have to worry about the made up an ever moving goalposts that is “immigration law.” or fight to remove capitalism and off a few burbs with one stone.
Well, yes. Happens when you take the road to stupid.
Have you tried this "bootstraps" thing?
awwww shiet I wonder why
Good.
I hope they lose their jobs and have to struggle to find another living while a corporation buys their land.
Do you really want a corporation buying their land, or just someone with more sense?
America can't have nice things
America had nice things. Once.
Trump took away the corporation for public broadcasting
*should not be allowed to have nice things.
Duh. Just find the Americans willing to work for the same wages. Easy.
Thanks trump!
GOOD
“I’m a stupid Nazi and I ruined my own country” said whoever they always quote in these articles.
This man’s pants are holding on for dear life in the thumbnail. Just floating in the wind.
