See the issue is that's considered a big strong masculine dog, so chuds self-identify with the strength part. if you're looking for puppyboys, you're looking for guys who self describe as like a corgi or a terrier.

Look I don't wanna spend too long breaking this down but there's a reason Air Bud is a Golden Retriever and not a cute lil Dachshund.

big? well they're not small, i'll give this part a pass
strong? on account of not being small they're also not weak, but on the scale of dogs no they're not strong
masculine? yes, the good kind

No way. If I've ever seen a "hold me back bro. I'm serious bro" dog breed, it'd be the chihuahia

edit: oh. I guess under the right circumstances those could be the same

I cannot explain this further, but I am certain that boys who identify with chihuahuas are brats.

Doubt (X)

Golden Retrievers aren't seen as big strong masculine dogs. Typically that would be dogs like German Shepherds, Rottweilers, Doberman Pinscher, etc. Golden Retrievers are seen more as a himbo type dog, for lack of a better term.

Whether people's self identification with dog breeds matches what they should be picking based on dog breed stereotypes is a different discussion. But yeah, I don't think people view Goldens as BIG, STRONG, MASCULINE dogs at all.

If I'm not going to be treated as a pet slave, what's even the point?

I’d bark anyway but I would not be considered a golden retriever I’m far too unstable for that
