That is some fucking BULLSHIT. HOWWWWW!????!?!?

8

Fucking infuriating cannot be overturned because it's a yellow. Fuck that

4
lemmy.world

I would like to see Zinchenko and Trossard come on... This experiment isn't quite working

100%, players need to return to their usual positions.

2
lemmy.world

Take Partey out and move Tomi back there..he works much better with Saka

2

I agree, then put Trossard in for Havertz around the 65th minute

So, that's 3 left back options that are unavailable for the next PL match (interestingly, none of them are really left backs).

  • Zinchenko: short-term injury
  • Timber: long-term injury
  • Tomiyasu: suspension

I wonder who option #4 is? Probably Kiwior, even though he also isn't a left back?

7

Zinchenko will play next match and kiwior will come in to give him a rest probably. Still don't know why arteta hates tierney

1
lemmy.world

That wasn’t even a foul + Ayew actually has made two yellow card fouls and is still on the pitch.

7
lemmy.world

I don't want to overreact, but Zinchenko came on and we basically started controlling the game, even with 10 men

6
lemmy.world

Now if only Zinchenko could stay healthy. We're a different team when he's on.

5

Honestly if we could just find ways to cope for a few games while we give Zinchenko and Partey a break, we could be cooking

2
lemmy.world

Oh wow, look at that! What a promising counter, if not for Eddie being fouled. I wonder if there's something that we could do to discourage players from doing that?

5

I just want a comfortable win. Hopefully the upcoming weekend but I'll settle for it being the United game.

5

I don't get why we are playing with partey in defense and tomiyasu on his weaker side.

I get zinchenko is just coming back from injury but Tierney can't even make the bench? Put partey in with rice and have havertz come in off the bench if needed.

We don't look very fluid right now and having partey cleaning up in the midfield behind rice and odegaard would be really useful

So, Arsenal effectively finished the game with 3 CBs, 4 CMs a winger, and a ?Forward? (Havertz)

  • CB: Gabriel, Saliba, Kiwior
  • CM: Partey, Rice, Jorginho, Zinchenko
  • Saka, Havertz

Interesting for a team that wasn't playing a 3-at-the-back formation at any point.

4

Oh thank god we held on.

Mikel, pleaaaase do not try anything new Saturday. We were very lucky CP don't have any finishers.

I'm very ticked off about Tomiyasu's two yellows.

3

I'm very curious to hear what Arteta has to say about the anti-time-wasting stuff they've implemented.

3

He cannot be happy and he shouldn't. Robbie Mustoe and Higginbotham made a good point, the team needs to be able to learn to grind out wins like this in situations like this. Definitely lesson learned

I absolutely hope that NBC does not put Andros Townsend on more of the games, irritating af

Saying the palace non-penalty was the only thing the refs got wrong made me crack up laughing

2

Love seeing Declan and Tomi shouting instructions on the pitch...

And there goes the Saliba chant

2

Sorry work, its going to be a slow afternoon for me. Not surprised to see the same line up, and hopefully we continue to build on out season with another win.

2

Feel like this one of these games where we need to shut this game down quick...Palace is definitely waiting for a mistake

2
lemmy.world

I wonder whether we'll ever see footballers get Lasik or similar subsidized by the clubs.

2
lemmy.world

Glad he found it. He'd have to awkwardly run to the locker room for a new one. Lol

1

That raises a good point - I wonder if the medical team have spares for players that wear them?

2

Oh is that what it was, thought he had something in his eye 😂

1

It's kind of funny to watch defenders dance along while marking Martin, and then stumble because they can't keep up

2
lemmy.world

I don't know why Arteta doesn't make some changes at the hour mark. Trossard for Nketiah, even Gabriel for Tommy.

You get some fresh legs up top, and a solid defense.

Tangent: Holy shit we're lucky.

2

Because you don't make changes when things are looking like the 2nd goal is around the corner and no one is struggling

2

On a non-sarcastic note, I don't like how tired we look. Should be safe to assume we'll make at least two more fresh legs subs

If an opposing player held back a counter attack like that, we'd be demanding a yellow card. It's unfortunate, but he was in trouble when he got the first card for time wasting, he couldn't take that chance.

I wonder if this means that Gabriel will actually start the next match. I haven't been happy with this weird makeshift back 4 anyhow.

1

Cumulative time wasting, Havertz held it for 15 seconds and Tomi for 8 seconds afterwards. The player who has the ball gets carded.

1

lemmy.world

Exactly, it was a counter and he was baited by the turn. It isn't enough for a yellow imo but it is still a foul. Whether or not it is a yellow is up to the refs discretion. Still you shouldn't be baited with a swivel like that at this level.

1

You have to be aware you're on a yellow card too. Even if you get baited, you have to rely on your other defenders. He was in Palace's half at the time, so there was time to get back.

2
coygsureply
lemmy.world

Correct, he didn't have any situational awareness and Ayew took the contact and made it appear worse than it is

1

I was always surprised that Wenger never seemed to try to bring in one of the Ayew brothers. They seem very much like Wenger players. Smart and technical while not the traditional blueprint of a striker / winger.

1
lemmy.world

Refs really trying to push these time wasting rules. He barely touched him.

5

Not to mention the "time wasting" for the first card, while Johnstones stands over every goal kick like he's about to start sculpting a masterpiece

7

Odegaard with our first shot on target. Our captain doing it himself if he has too

1

3 points won but we need to return to a back four with Zinchenko, Gabriel, Saliba and White.

1

I'm glad to see this cynicism with fast starts from free kicks, but... perhaps.... maybe.... we could do something with it?

1

Somebody spike our water with something to make us see the goal 5 meters to the right or left?
