I think iPhones don't let you install ad blockers on any browser

Neat! Is there still that rule that everything has to use WebKit under the hood? I'm curious if one could also use firefox extensions on ios. I assume firefox has an iOS app but I guess now that I think about it, I'm not actually sure... 😅

That rule still exists everywhere except the EU, so all browsers just use WebKit. Firefox for iOS doesn’t support extensions. Orion browser has implemented the Webextension api, however it’s proprietary and the apis that are required for Adblock aren’t implemented. You have to use safari with uBlock lite or a browser with a built in adblocker like Brave or Orion

Buying an iPhone is every so often on my mind because I'm tired of Samsung but oh boy I wouldn't survive a day with that bullshit

I know right? "Pay me a thousand dollars for me to arbitrarily fuck with your shit in ways so onerous the eu literally made it a crime."

I think in theory you can now with the safari extensions but for whatever reason there aren’t any available yet (or any well known ones anyway)

PiHole or AdGuardHome; then set up a VPN on that same box and on your phone. You’re secure and on your own home network everywhere.

I didn't see a link, but I'm wondering if the etymology mentions the words shitify and shitification which, at least in my personal experience, pre-date the term enshitification by a decade or two.

You reached the end
