That author is going to be really confused when the game has an amount of options that dwarfs anything in Mass Effect.
I hope the combat isn't similar. I really enjoyed the Mass Effect (3 i think?) but the combat missions quickly become repetitive and somewhat tedious imo.
Having played one mission in their beta it is similar to ME2/3 but at least in that one mission they really used the dynamics of space/mag boots well.
