Red at the Crown

Finally—a male summer tanager (Piranga rubra). I’ve photographed a few females before, but this is the first male to grace my lens. He perched high atop a tall oak at the forest’s edge, just out of reach. Still, with a telescopic lens and a generous helping of megapixels, I managed a usable image or two.
