The mighty Rio Grande
The river has been really dry so my dog and I went hiking in the river bed. Here are some pictures I took.
Some spots do still have a bit of water, but none is flowing.
Ludo sums up this pool perfectly.
The river bed is mostly sand with parts covered in clay, when the clay dries out it makes the neat shingles. This makes harvesting clay for pottery easy, and it is fun to walk on them.
Some spots the clay was about 3" thick.

Reminds me of the time I went down to Big Bend National Park. Wanted to go swimming somewhere and was about to check out the canyon along the border (forget its name right now). Asked one of the volunteers if the Rio Grande was swimmable there and he just laughed. Still had some water, but it was explained to me that what I saw was basically pure agricultural runoff from Mexico and that no, I should not be in it.
Later in the day I saw this notice.
Haha, and that one puddle looked so inviting!

"No Swimming or No Fishing" Has it been decided yet? Can you do just one? Can you do both at the same time?
Be really careful of flash floods!
