Your enemy isn't the other people of your class who are uneducated, ignorant and being manipulated.

Your enemy is the people who are educated, rich and intentionally manipulating the most ignorant people in our society.

I'm not saying you need to socialize with them, but recognize that the actual enemy is the people using billions of dollars to pour poisonous lies into the minds of the uneducated masses in order to grab as much power as possible.

People get too lost in dunking on MAGA voters that they don't focus on the people making MAGA voters.

That the class traitors have been deceived doesn't stop them from being your enemies as they actively support the regime.

Yeah, but the difference is that they are possibly redeemable, contrary to the elite pushing that crap.

  • Elite that know what they're doing? → Gulag → Forced work for the rest of their miserable life, IDGAF.
  • Person who was manipulated in being an angry fascist through lies and fear? → rehabilitation → back to a happy life
7

Exactly.

I'm a leftist living in a rural southern area. I encounter these people every day. The vast majority of people have had their sources of information deliberately poisoned and their views are rational but they're built on lies (which, again, are deliberately created to have this effect).

Yeah, there are definitely bigots and people who would support this crap even without the massive disinformation campaign. But, most of them are ignorant and being misled.

Those people can have their views changed if the firehose of bullshit is interrupted. This is impossible if you're creating an environment where you're attacking people who are redeemable.

Your enemy isn't other poor people, your enemy is the elites who are deliberately poisoning people's perception of the world in order to obtain power.

It feels good to write angry, self-righteous crap online and be showered with upvotes. But, choosing to target other people in your class is a tactical error.

By "acting normal" i literally mean speaking plainly about everyday issues like the fascist takeover of our country, giant child sex trafficking coverups, abuse of military, etc. instead of pretending this is just "politics" and so we need to censor ourselves to avoid offending Trump supporters. They certainly don't.

I'm not suggesting "dunking" on any Trump supporters in the group, but they will likely take it that way, and if they can't maintain adult discussions about it they will run from the truth just like most of the MAGA supporters who still haven't gotten a clue after 8 years of this. If they don't though, maybe they aren't so hopeless.

I don't hate Trump supporters in general, but boy did they fuck this one up... If they feel bad when someone points that out i really don't care

I agree with you completely. I'm not saying you have to avoid offending Trump supporters, if you speak the truth they are going to get angry.

I'm saying make sure you're directing your anger at the people who are poisoning their information so that they live in an alternate reality.

Oh yes, the damage caused by people lacking media literacy and a basic education has been immense.

But, you don't get mad at the sheep who are shitting in your yard, you get mad at the shepherds who pushed them there.

People trying to stir up intra-class conflict are part of the problem.

Yes. The way this always works is through useful idiots. There's a core group that knows it's bullshit, but they want to use it to pursue some other agenda. They then filter talking points to their media contacts. Those people may or may not believe it, but their paycheck depends on convincing masses of people that it's true.

The random MAGA guy on a Facebook post? He probably believes it. He's two degrees removed from the people who don't. The Enlightened Centrist who tries to mix both sides into a resemblance of an ideology is three degrees removed.

This is also why the only "journalism" outlets that aren't financially struggling are conservative podcasters and YouTubers.

20

I have a reasonably conservative brother but it’s hard to tell what he actually believes vs what he wants to troll with

Most recently he got me with Harvard. Apparently it’s a hotbed of racism and harassment, so the federal government needs to step in. wtf? Does he really believe that’s anything more than a pretext to control “woke” education?

2

All major cities are blue cities. The most dangerous cities are in red states because red state governments dont let blue cities run their cities without interference and beat them up to score political points. They want their cities to remain dangerous because harping on the cities for being dangerous is 85% of their political appeal to rural hicks

St Louis voted to legalize weed, for a $15/hr minimum wage and plenty of other things that would have drastically improved life for residents and reduced crime over a decade ago now. The state government took it away every time. More recently, the state government took control of the police department away from the city. All of this shit makes the city worse off, even though it has been steadily improving for the last decade in spite of the fuckery

Home rule should be a federal policy for all cities over a certain size

Missouri State government is so awful.

Vote for sick leave passes, state government shoots it down.

Vote for abortion rights passes, same deal.

We have politicians openly going against the will of the people as certified by majority vote and I’m so damn frustrated I don’t know what more I can do. I normally like to start with sensible options but we can’t even get what we want by voting for it!

The right wing alternate reality machine has been hammering their brain with "The Epstien files are nothing/a plot by the democrats/fake/don't say anything about Trump (according to Maxwell)/etc"

Anybody can succumb to propaganda, be angry at the people who are intentionally misleading people. Attacking your own class is playing into the hands of the fascists.

6

Yeah. Take a look at common social media. It’s literally flooded again with right-wing BS justifying trump’s actions. Outright lies made over and over. There’s no way these aren’t paid troll farms doing this. The volume is overwhelming.

This is why Facebook banned me. I relentlessly reported people for hate speech and then started telling people that Jesus will likely spit them out when they go to heaven. They got triggered and mass reported my comments. Facebook is a shit hole of Ai accounts posting psychotic bullshit.

Just get off the service. Back up your pictures. Everything will be better once you’re gone.

The problem is how do you troll with the truth? “Well akshully climate change is manmade!” Vs “Climate change is a New World Order Jewish Plot!!1!”

Stupid extremist lies win pretty handily when you’re trying to hook the racist and easily ragebaited uneducated.

2

Good question. Maybe some sort of similar mind games but with the goal to get towards the truth. For like a commercial, maybe put Trump on a throne and show how he sees the working class. Make him say stuff like "okay see if we can make them believe in Jewish space lasers next!" While laughing at some gaudy party. Then have some totally normal looking guy look up from a tweet and be like "they really think we are that dumb? Weird ". Maybe internet trolling could be just accounts that say things like "no one is believing this bullshit anymore. Can't they think of something more clever to try to fool us with? My insurance rates are skyrocketing with all these hurricanes and fires from the whole damn world getting hotter. If they don't want to give up profits at least make a believable lie for us."

Maybe that's too many words but basically make fun of the messaging the right is sending and try to put everyone on their own side by pretending they themselves, and anyone agreeing with them, is smart. It's the exact same brainwashing format the right is using. Just use it back.

If anyone from any corner wanted to do anything real about crime or drug use they could. It's an easy fix. It just takes investing in the people. Raising wages. Giving people a decent quality of life. Make it so every day isn't a scrap. A struggle for survival.

35
lemmy.world

He wants a conflict to happen.

Any protest of this will be framed as violence and be used to justify more troops. I'm sure we'll get to a point where federal agents are "protecting" voting sites and intimidating minorities.

The Heritage foundation and the other fascist groups have been planning this for decades. The midterm elections are going to be tampered with in some way, this is just the initial stages of the project.

nhaa, he's a criminal, but it makes sense because the troops are supposed to threaten the opposition into submission, and if they don't, their orders will be to get rid of opposition. It has nothing to do with him being a criminal, and everything to do with him being a dictator.

5

I suppose they can be, but it would be pretty stupid since they can rewrite the laws themselves.

1

The oligarchs are prepping for collapse and upheaval, and the Democrats will “go along with it” (work in concert) to implement the authoritarian police state, just as they have always done.

19

Boiling a frog, when people want to rise up they'll find the dragnet is nice and tight around them.

13

That's what this would seem to imply. He's sending small amounts to each city and the moment any of them have even the most miniscule of a squabble it'll be an excuse to put the whole city under martial law and send in way more troops to see it through

8

I'm beginning to think these actions are politically motivated.

12

Blue states get troops: mass protests

Red states: we love troops send them here

Troops go to Red states --> troops already there to chain people up for the leopards to eat their faces when Trump does next move.

10

I don't remember when I first heard about Trump, but when I started reading articles about him and seeing videos of him speaking in 2010 (such a long time ago...) I came to a conclusion very quickly that he was a fool and not to be taken seriously. Even on cracked.com (if those articles even still exist on their site!) back in the day he was universally reviled. The guy is just a criminal, pure and simple. He isn't even a particularly smart criminal. The one thing I had to really come to a sobering conclusion is that being 'smart' and being 'successful' are two entirely different things... also the world is absolutely full of irredeemable jackasses, a fact I should have come to the conclusion to as a young child, but I didn't until much later.

10

I read headlines like this and my only reaction is;”:

“Fucking duh”

9

They'll be rigged even if he has to station troops at every voting location in the country.

Never forget, he promised everyone that they'd never have to vote again.

6

If there is another election, you can be absolutely certain he will rig it. Nobody is even bothering to push back against him this time. He can do whatever he wants to get his thumb on the scale, just like he is right now with redistricting.

Also, I'm not even convinced he didn't rig the last one. He tried to cheat in 2020, failed, and nothing bad happened to him because the Democrats were too scared to put the full force of the law behind prosecuting him for it. Why wouldn't he cheat again? Why would he ever leave office if the SCOTUS rules that the President is immune to both civil and criminal prosecution?

Kansas City keeps getting rated in one of the most dangerous cities.

Want to know something neat about it? The city doesn't have control over its police.

Nope, instead the police is controlled by a 5 person board 1 is the mayor, the other 4 picked by the governor. So Republicans have had control of the police force in the past decade, you think that's been going well?

I mean to be fair, the police did crack down on the street racing thi- oh, wait, right, it's because one of them got ran over by a 4 wheeler, otherwise the governor(s) have been ecstatic to talk about how bad "liberal cities" are while fucking them over.

So everyone! Prepare for this on the national level! Have fun!

5

The governors of red states have been invading blue cities within their state for years. When Trump finally just declares war on his own people they'll already be set up and ready to take full control in several states like Louisiana, Mississippi, and probably Tennessee (Memphis for sure. They're actually #1 on the FBI list. Nashville has been successfully fighting back against their own governor for several years. Mostly bc they have the concentrated wealth necessary to win a legal battle compared to the rest of the state).

I think Trump faced way more pushback at the state level than he was expecting when he tried to take L.A. Not that he won't keep trying for L.A. and other blue cities, but D.C. was already federal territory/a relatively easy target by comparison. He needed a show of force, so he picked a fight he knew he could win.

4
lemmy.world

But you see, he is deploying troops to the most dangerous cites--the most dangerous to him and his regime, that is. No need to take control of cities that are on his side.

2

Yup. It has always been politics. It has always been the long game. The long, slow burn as we descend into Nazi rule and ultra late stage capitalism.

1

I wonder when he'll pull the old "soldiers in the room for an important vote" trick.

Not coming to San Francisco because we would throw down in the streets and run the clowns out of here.

1

Did you not see what went down in SF at the court house? We threw down friend.

2

yeah it's not about actually fighting crime. it's to make the blue states understand how important it is for states to be independent from the federal government, i.e. "state's rights" in other words. it has been a core demand from texas for 200 years, and now it's finally coming true. though not because of trump's direct executive order (which would probably be undone by the next dem president in office) but by making the blue states understand the very real danger if states don't have independence.

-4

You're actually fucking stupid if you think fascists are trying to do fascism to teach people the importance of state's rights to violate any human rights they want.

6

What good is an independent state when the state is just as abusive. Ours is working to completely remove our ability to be represented in state government.

5

Agreed. Most of my state/government is not next door. So it can go fuck itself. I will show solidarity with and aid my actual neighbors and our allies. But that doesn't include any of the state wide governance or federal government we're denied a voice in.

2
AA5Breply
lemmy.world

It’s not, but your vote counts for a larger percentage of state government than federal. You have a slightly greater chance of doing something about it

1

Nope. Our blue urban core is sliced 6 ways like a pie. Each slice extending far far into rural areas. Effectively taking away our ability to have any state representation. And they're getting ready to soup it up further.
