If this is so, well, thank fuck for that. Such a bad, expensive idea. One good thing to come from Trump is a severe loss of faith in the US, long overdue.

It would be kinda funny if we crawled back to the French, begged them to build us some subs, and then the French tell us to "Mange de la merde!"

@No1

The French wouldn't say that. They'd say whatever is French for "Sign here!"

We'd then pay them a few more BILLION dollars, and the French would wait a week or two for another policy reversal.

At the rate we're going, we'll end up buying our subs from China...

We'd probably better be able to rely on the Chinese ones during WW3 than the American ones.

To be honest, at least then the navy would know exactly what they are fighting against.

If so, then good. It was always a dud.

Another white elephant from an outgoing LNP government that won't be blamed for the useless expense.

Neither the US nor the UK will cop any flack. Scott Moronson will walk away with zero mention by a compliant media.

The ALP will be abused for the whole shitty deal. One of their first acts should have been to say, "Keep the deposit, we'll get the penalty fine to you when the first sub was due." (So never, effectively).

nationalsecurityjournal.org looks like a propaganda outlet.

How do you even check the bonafides of a random site like this?

I am no expert but the Japanese Sub 'looked' really cool when it visited a few years back
