Fairfax County to Pilot Use of Electric Buses and Trucks with a State Grant
-The county will deploy four all-electric Fairfax Connector buses, four solid waste trucks and one medium-duty truck, as well as install electric charging stations for these vehicles.
-These demonstration projects will advance the efforts to electrify the county's fleet, helping the county to learn more about operating and maintaining these vehicles.
-These pilot projects are funded with more than $4.4 million in state grants.
I like this, esp when looking at some of the fuel and cost savings:
4 × electric busses: approximately 32,000 gallons of diesel fuel on an annual basis
4 × electric waste disposal trucks: 78% in fuel and maintenance costs
1 × electric box/transport truck: 64% in fuel costs
Hopefully this leads to less in property taxes soon amirite guys 🤣? (I know that's a whole nother issue. I'm still down for this pilot).
