I haven’t heard of that but I think you can put bookmarks on the launch screen. Should be equivalent enough. I just leave the youtube homepage open in a tab and it comes up like you’re describing though
It is enabled but youtube senses that picture in picture is activated and closes itself or pause.
This is youtube doing on purpose to prevent people from using picture in picture mode.
Its the same reason why they dont vant to implement such features in youtube app.
To serve you adds that you have to watch.
I dont like youtube for other reasons anuway, i like Lbry on desktop and odyse on phone. But since they are not that popular i use youtube still beside them..

I use Brave browser. The audio stays playing even if you shut the screen or switch apps. Other media with audio will pause it though. Plus no ads

can't you just enable Picture-in-Picture in settings? i watch YT while multitasking all the time
