I find these petitions pointless as the response will probably be, "Lol. No."

However, this online safety act has been harmful to many websites who have had to block access from the UK or just shut down altogether. Simply because they can't afford to take a risk based on these new laws and the issues they bring.

Potentially, but getting a debate might help, other parties can see it as an easy win. And Labour haven't even issued a response to it, never mind a debate being organised, they could - in theory - take the easy win. But that would also require them to realise they're wildly unpopular and have the sense to do it

Yep, I can't say I'm surprised either. But the number keeps climbing and there's still a debate. Plus, Labour really seem to want to just be Reform and Farage claims they'll repeal it so maybe Starmer will pounce on the opportunity to copy them again

Ofcom say they did a survey and found that 71% of parents want this, but that was in 2016 and I doubt the parents were aware of how intrusive the solution was, how easily defeated it would be, and that the tools to prevent the problem was already there (parental controls).

Wonder how many non parents want this?

Funny how we are never ever considered worth of asking.

That counter is ticking along pretty quick.

It really is, fuck it I signed it.

With now over 400k signatures I suspect this will still get a debate, plus on the back of Reform saying they would repeal it, we can only hope labour will backpedal like they do with so many other things when something is considered unpopular.

One can hope...but I've got very very low expectations.

Just signing won’t be enough. We need to tell our MPs that this thing NEEDS to go in a matter of hours.

There's a YouTube circulating that the sending of inaccurate post or messages is made a criminal offense. I haven't double checked but will do so
