I think I know what they're talking about. A few years ago I believe Reddit was using the MaGiC of BlOcKcHaIn for storing Reddit avatar outfits, and if you had enough karma they gave you a couple options for free when they were rolling it out. They were stored in some sort of wallet or something and could be shuffled around, like a fucking Reddit NFT but the website actually used them to display certain images on your profile.
Yeah I also remember getting like an “invite” to invest before their IPO and it was such a shitty thing that made it so obvious the end was coming. It wasn’t long after that the API changes came and all was lost
So glad to know Reddit is continuing to support such an incredible feature. What would anyone do without purchasable NFT avatars? I think when I jumped ship for the third party app stuff, they were doing special limited run avatars that were like $100 each. I'm sure it's even better now!
