Having a debate with myself about alternate history

This post is gonna be a bit different. Last night I watched Inglourious Basterds (great movie by the way) but in this film spoilers ahead

Hitler, Goebbels and many high ranking Nazis are killed by members of the squad. So this makes me wonder is this alternate history? I mean Hitler is dead months before he did in real life and in a diffrent manor and WW2 ends way earlier. This raises a question this movie is not wanting to be an alternate history film but it does dive into that genre. Can it be considered alternate history media if that’s not what it set out to be?

It's more like historical fiction. If the storyline continued after Hitler's premature death, then it would be alternate history.
