It is probably just to help throw people off their scent. Like a very dedicated member of law enforcement being a serial killer. How often are you really going to look at the people hunting for criminals to be the criminal they are looking for?
Honestly this is a big reason I'm tired of the pedo hunts, they end with a thousand accusations and only the leader of the hunt is found to be a pedo

I mean, the dude is a CO getting booked into jail. He knows that in the best case scenario, he’s going to be stuck in isolation for his entire sentence. I wouldn’t expect him to look happy about it.
