ULPT: To eavesdrop on people around you, put in your earbuds/headphones and pretend to listen to music, but don't actually play any music.
If you bop your head a little, they'll assume you're listening to music and speak more freely.

even better, I saw in another post that airpods have a live listen feature where you can use your phone as a microphone. Basically you put your phone to "charge" in another room and use your airpods to listen in on what the people in that room are saying.
