Also in case you were wondering the other guys is our sycophantic former PM, Mark Rutte (VVD, garage people party) who is now head of NATO. His recent nearly literally a love letter to the American Fascist was published recently. Most Dutch just shook their heads. Rutte casts himself as some kind of "Trump-whisperer," but the things is, he probably actually believes the blow-job level shit he wrote.

Eh. Flattery works particularly well on Trump, I believe. So I think Rutte is doing a good job here. It's sad that it's necessary and that it works, but I don't blame Rutte for the election of Trump.

Yeah Rutte is doing us all a service and puts his ego on the backburner. Of course he does not believe the shit he wrote, but he won’t say otherwise because it will anger Trump.

He’s the good guy here, nothing to criticize about his current performance - I think he’s the right guy for the role currently and he’s doing the best anyone could in the fucked up Kindergarten that is world politics under Trump.

Teflon Mark (Rutte) is the perfect guy for this job. Nothing sticks to him anyway. Somehow every single fuckup his governments made were always blamed on someone else. And any mistakes he made, he "has no active recollection of". So these suck-up letters aren't going to be blamed on Rutte; he was just doing his job: managing Trump.

It seemed to work. And then, when Trump got home, the Republicans decided to leave NATO. Agent orange lied again.

Thank you. I couldn’t figure out “kiezen” but now I’m guessing that’s a conjugation of the verb “to choose.”

"Kiezen" is literally the verb "to choose" (or "molars" when the context is dental, which isn't in this case).
