Maybe, I just don’t see a federated social media platform being adopted by the average user. Seems to be far too confusing.

@HangoverTuesday I've been here long enough to see the waves making the jump over from Twitter. It seems to me that the slightly higher barrier to entry is leading to better quality content.

Yeah, for sure, like early Reddit, early Facebook, Orkut, etc. We run a sub for a non technical interest though, so it is a very real concern for me.

Email is a federated platform and everybody uses it, give it time

I would agree, but you probably end up with a more engaged user base.

Plus with numbers it will only become more user friendly
