I feel #GuildWars holds up pretty well in 2025. It still looks pretty, and because it’s 20 years old, it will run on a potato. It works great with #Wine under #Linux too. I spent my Sunday in

I spent my Sunday in pre-searing Ascalon as “Dgar Of Mastodon”. No one recognised me. Here’s some of the scenery I saw. Is this #RetroGaming yet?

@[email protected] I had that game back in the day. (Technically that means I still do unless they changed their "once you buy it you own it for life" policy, but I don't even have the e-mail account or anything.) I actually enjoyed walking around out of town and exploring, which I got the impression they didn't think we would do much of on our own. It's too bad the game is so heavily balanced for groups though...

@[email protected] I bought it probably like 4 years ago, tried to get into it, but... since i didn't grow up playing it, i kinda switched to GW2 which i still immensely enjoy. Probably my fav MMORPG.

I liked GW2 but as a newer player you're expected to know so much and I could never wrap my head around the whole no tank class thing.

@[email protected] comparing RPGs like Pool of Radiance (1988) vs Guildwars (2005) vs (whatever GOTY in 2025 will be) - I feel like we've reached a plateau in gaming graphics.
