What's the best way to sort Lemmy?

I've found that "Hot" often gives me posts I have seen days before, same with "Most Comments". So far I've found that "Top Day" is best, but then I lose a lot of posts from my smaller communities

How do you sort your Lemmy instance? Any tips I'm missing?

New and top.

Hot and Active are bugged in the current version, they are supposed to update a lot more frequently than they currently do.

I also prefer "New" and "Top Day", but for different community lists:

  • Local + New for what's going on around lemmy.ca communities
  • Subscribed + Top Day for the wider Fediverse communities I'm subbed to as a sort of "daily digest"

That's very good to know, thanks!! Guess I'll keep my eye out for version 18 (iirc)!

So far, I'm a fan of "Newest Comments". Any popular threads tend to bubble up there, but you get a healthy dose of new content as well.

Top Day and New Comments are the most useful to me. I think this will probably change as lemmy grows, though.

I usually search by new and filter by subscriptions. It moves slow enough to keep track of things as they appear.

Yeah, discovery is super frustrating right now. Would love to see a hide feature for both posts and categories. Find a lot of great categories from browsing new, but the majority I would be happy to never see again.

I have my default set to New Comments, but I’ll manually switch to Top Day and regular New when settling in for a browse.

You reached the end
