I think someone will add it to base Lemmy eventually, but I doubt it's high priority. Might be a while.

I think they will very useful if and when the user base of the bigger instances become big enough, I don't know how fast we will get there though.

It would be good to settle in for the long haul. Like reddit, things will change over a span of years. And lemmy doesn't necessarily need to copy everything about reddit, or restrict itself only things reddit already did. And some parts of reddit, I hope never make it into lemmy.

It's possible to hashtag Lemmy posts. That might be a good stop-gap

I don't have anything specifically against flairs, but I wish people would get away from the idea that Lemmy needs to copy every aspect of Reddit.

I agree. Although I'd prefer to see a return of user flairs over content flairs.

I don't think it's something Dessalines or Nutomic are very interested in dedicating a lot of time to. They do accept bounties though (see here and here), but I don't know how high the bounty has to be for someone else to actually notice.
