I have a tiny app and 70% of its users are from indonesia. Can someone tell me why?
Apologies if this isn’t the right place for this post, but I thought maybe someone here has an answer.
Here‘s a diagram with downloads by region.
As a small side project I submitted an App to the iOS App Store called SplitBill - split from image (free). It lets you, as the name suggests, snap a picture and sum up transactions under different "cards".
Out of the 750 downloads so far, 511 are from Indonesia. They are spread evenly and afaict all of them are coming from App Store searches. That makes me think no one linked to it or mentioned it anywhere. So either people are confusing it with something else (something more popular with a similar name), or for whatever reason there’s a "greater" demand for such an App (obviously still tiny).
The app wasn’t even translated (it now is, btw if someone here would be so kind to take a look if the translations make any sense I‘d appreciate that :)
Any ideas? Maybe there’s nothing to it, but I’m kind of curious.
I think it's because split bill is trending here in Indonesia. More and more couples are splitting their bills.
So a bit of a cultural phenomenon? Interesting :)
Thanks :) It’s just iOS, sorry. And I’m genuinely curious what’s going on there, I didn’t mean to sneak a link to the app into this community although I certainly wouldn’t mind if people had a look^^
Have you been getting offers to "market" your app?
I know a lot of those services exist in those countries. Useful for apps that want to game the popularity/most downloaded tables
No I haven’t gotten anything, but that sounds plausible.
Do you analytics give you any other information or just the downloads?
Stuff like which screens are used the most, clicks, etc?
There's more info, but nothing that would help much to figure out why. App Store page views, how many sessions per week (2.5 per active device), deletions, ... It's all pretty evenly spread, no noticeable spikes. Active devices looks interesting as well^^ There aren't any analytics from "inside the app" other than crashes and how many sessions (being open for longer than 2s). And since the app is pretty tiny, there wouldn't be much to see anyways. It's basically just a picture in which you can select numbers
People here loves to hangout with friends or their relatives. Some of them didn't bring any cash or use other payment service so someone should nombok or pay.
The other case is it can be use to split their personal items and their friend's item when buying stuff (nitip) because only 1 person will do that.
Pardon my english, i hope someone can corrected my answer.
yep, this is correct
