Using less M$ products is always a good thing, especially in the defence sector.
Smart move, the only OS any government or at risk should use is GNU+linux.
Is the source code available? I would like to see how auditors rate it's security. Even if it's not as good I would say it's a step in the right direction.

I think its their loss as Microsoft products are know for quality with less bugs. Also American products should be used by every country. I think India and China should be put in the blacklist so that they can't buy any US hardware and chipset.
