What a race against time in regards to taking the photo and then preserving it by getting the hell outta there

The terrifying thing was during the Chernobyl docuseries, seeing the firefighters standing in that mound, surrounded by immensely radioactive debris and you as the viewer being shown the photograph later and realizing just how irradiated those men were.

The hospital they were treated at still has a massive radioactive pile of firefighter clothes that were discarded. So much pain and suffering
