Saving you a click – the article is just empty waffle around this Gurman tweet: "I would guess that the Zeiss prescription lenses for the Vision Pro will be at least $300-600 a pair, unless Apple is eating part of the cost given the already high price of the headset itself."

I mean... It's not just any one guy.
It's Mark Gurman, he has insights to a lot of things Apple.

I wouldn't be surprised if he had insider sources for that.

The kind of people that are going to buy this at $3500 are probably not going to be all that worried about the additional lens cost.

That tracks. I use prescription lenses for my Quest 2, and they were roughly $200-300.

You got gouged unless you have a really wild prescription, even then thats still a lot. You can get lenses for almost any headset for $80ish dollars from any of the main providers

I paid 85EUR for the ones in my PSVR2. I've never seen any on the market for over $200.

I bought cheap lenses from Zenni and 3D printed adapters for my Valve Index. Total cost was under $100 and they work fine. Made a second set for my wife with her prescription as well.

Hefty but if you can keep using them I think the investement kinda quickly pays off I’d assume. Hope it’s gonna be the same as with watch bands and those things stay compatible over a lot of generations. I think I’d buy them once but buying them again and again for each generation I may end up buying would suck…

Unless you can sell it for more than you got it for, its not an investment its just a purchase.

Eyes change also, every few years I need to adjust my prescription.

If that rumour is true, ouch. That’s at least double what an everyday pair of glasses would cost me.

Hopefully if and when these headsets become more mainstream, Apple and others will license the fitting designs to opticians so there is a bit more choice and competition.
