I hope other first nations and communities send her more letters like this. If you want to be american so badly just move there and leave the rest of us out of it.

That's something I can't understand. Most of my family back in Alberta would vote to join US and have been saying it for years. Why don't they just move there? It's not hard

I think it's all a boo hoo victim mentality to avoid personal accountability. Those people's lives suck because they are dumb, not because of Ottawa, lol

You just described most problems in western society. Sincerely your southern neighbor.

It's way easier to live in Canada and get mad about anything you perceive as better in the US while reaping all the benefits of being Canadian. Blue state Republicans do the same.

it's all a boo hoo victim mentality to avoid personal accountability.

This is the nucleus of the conservative mindset. This right here. This is the DNA, the required personality trait, the price of admission to the conservative club.

1000% correct, they would rather whine about Ottawa fucking them in some way then actually doing work to change their material outcomes. It comes from intellectual laziness if you ask me.

Just to pre-empt where this is going, sure, the Earth was here before all of us. But unlike the Clovis people, First Nations are still here and suffering from what my ancestors did, which is why that leads to misunderstanding when emphasised.

14

I mean, you can state that, but you haven't actually supported it. And that's before you get into the fact our legal system says they do.

Not that I advocate it, but another way of writing what you just said is, "This whole treaty thing wouldn't be a problem if we had just gone with full genocide."

I mean, it wouldn't. It's just that genocide is bad, so that's not really preferable, then or now.

When is the last time you heard complaints from the Clovis people?

I have a house in Alberta. I wonder if there's a way to cede my property back to the Treaty nations when I die... They deserve it more than my relatives do.

You may want to contact the First Nations band office closest to you (or another band office of your choosing) and speak to them about it.

First Nations, Inuit and Metis people will save the rest of us from idjits like Smith and Drug Fraud.

30

We have a huge amount to learn from the First Nations and the French about sovereignty. It will also be quite interesting to see how the 51st state bullshit goes over with them.

Smith speaks for a minority only and the press loves it and feeds it. The silent majority are 100% Canada.

Oh what is Danielle Smith up to now? Fuck.

Successfully riling up a separation movement

I left Alberta 8 years ago because I was unhappy. Why can't these stupid motherfuckers do it too?

I moved to Victoria but it was really difficult yeah

There is. The Supreme Court of Canada has ruled multiple times on Indigenous land rights and, for the most part, have ruled in favour of the treaties with First Nations communities and people.

Smith doesn't have a leg to stand on here.
