After yesterday's shitshow "review" with management, I had the BEST time today in the office with the other staff - successfully avoided management like they were radioactive - it was like a reunion/party with everyone else. And the best thing is, I caught up with two PT female colleagues and had almost a mini feminist gathering that was like three way therapy - I feel like we ALL had a breakthrough about how to stake our claims, battle our traumas and find our strength and courage against a vindictive/unsupportive/subtly misogynistic boss.
I feel super positive now about where to go from here and that life is gonna get a whole lot better, overall, in the things that really matter. And that there are awesome people who value and care. 😺
I also note how significantly happier and healthier I feel off antidepressants tbh...
The police are doing forensic testing on a dehydrator found at the tip. Wtf so she was making mushroom chips? This story is getting more and more bizarre.
I initially thought it was a tragic dumb mistake, but with the extra info it’s so fishy. Police saying source of mushrooms is still unknown. Which would imply that she’s not saying. How do you have mushrooms in your kitchen and not know where they came from? Then you find random mushrooms in your kitchen and put them in a dehydrator? Somethings not right.
Ironically, if she has done something murderous, and had said she had picked them and unknowingly made a mistake, she might have made a plausible argument. There would be no proof it wasn’t a mistake. If she’s trying to avoid scrutiny she’s not being very smart about it.
They have, apparrently he had some mystery illness that put him in hospital in an induced coma for 16 days.....
“I collapsed at home, then was in an induced coma for 16 days through which I had three emergency operations mainly on my small intestine, plus an additional planned operation,” he wrote in May 2022.
It's really bizarre that they don't know if she ate any of the meal or if there were mushrooms in it. That makes no sense unless she is not answering questions. The only explanation I can come up with that doesn't involve her having done something is that one of their kids is a murderous psychopath she is covering for, but that seems pretty unlikely.
I like how they describe south gippsland as close knit. It's super white, parochial and backward. Yarram while I was there had an art mural phase where a guy, heesco of Mongolian heritage painted a whole load of colonial white men doing farm / colonialist things. One woman and one first nations among about twenty murals. It was fantastic in its execution and economically developed the town, but it reinforced how stuck in the 1960s the whole are is.
Also - I had big wild mushrooms growing in my front yard down there at around this time of year. People would collect them, apparently they're a delicacy. I cooked one and it smelled like greasy dirt. Too easy to mistake them honestly for poisonous ones unless you really know what you're doing.
I knew a couple down there and the story is that he thought he was wonderful and the rest of the town thought he was a cunt. So that tells me they are very good at hiding things.
Were they orange? Did you have pine trees? Alot of edible wild mushrooms look nothing like what you get in the supermarket. The ones that look like you could get them in the supermarket are normally the deadly ones
No they were white, brown underneath and looked a bit like the big mushrooms you can get at most supermarkets. They also looked a bit like death caps. No way I was eating the fuckin things. I grew enough potatoes and brassicas to feed myself anyway.
So either the fam bam has some pretty epic mushroom resistance, orrrrrr...?! Maybe they just don't like mushrooms, but knew the guests did and wanted to cook something fun for them? Or it's a total plot. Wild. I wonder what'll come.
Ok, so death cap mushrooms do resemble the edible ones I described, but you'd still need to be a fucking idiot to not know the difference and cook and feed them to people. She could very well be a fucking idiot.
My husband and I watch a lot of true crime and we will often discuss how we would kill/get rid of the body/ cover up and so on then I'll say to him "Now now darling drink your nice strong coffee there. I made it extra tasty for you". We are of course joking but this is a real life Agatha Christie novel.
Poison is a common murder weapon. "I didn't do anything!" what does that even mean? She did cook the fucking mushrooms and serve them. Those people died.
Have you caught the update? Police went back to the tip. I mean, there a lot of other places to hide evidence around Leongatha. Like a huge fucking coastline of remote beaches, bushland. I think we are dealing with a fucking idiot as I previously deduced.
PSA guys. My samples of Double Choc Mousse Cake actually worked which was a surprise because taste.com.au recipes are usually a bit shit.
What I did was placed a chocolate ripple biscuit in each patty pan (6 all up). Made half the mixture but added a tbsp of icing sugar to the cream whist whipping it. The only thing I would add is a dollop of whipped cream on top of the cake
Yes exactly. Just one whole choc ripple biscuit in the patty pan. Put the mousse on top. Put it in the fridge and the fridge softens the biscuit a bit so it's not hard. When I make the normal size cake I'll do the proper biscuit base.
Far better than surgery latter in life. Or having to deal with the brace in your late teens like my brother did. Still sucky, of course, but could be far far worse.
I don't know guys. It looks a bit like whipped poo but it tastes good. I added a little bit of icing sugar to compensate for the missing liqueur. Let's see if it sets. I'll let you know later.

Thanks. Sometimes in the heat of the moment I could really punch someone in my imagination like this morning but maybe I just gotta walk away and do something else so my mind isn't fixated on it. I'm glad to hear you seem to be enjoying the day.
I'm actually more resentful tonight. Due to fixations. I'm glad to have received a free tv unplanned and that my cats join me on my bed to watch star trek. Stew was made but I'm fed up. No thoughts of violence at least. Hope you found some peace of mind too! Tomorrow is another day.

Man... I wish fantasy games would just... not do spiders. For something that is a very common phobia, fantasy writers just LOVE putting it in their worlds don't they?
At least having an arachnophobia mode would be great. There are some games that have put that mode in. I just, ugh. Can't wait for the mod for Badlur's Gate 3 to be updated to work with the latest patch!
Exactly. Like I understand that it's there because it's fantasy. But like... For the visual medium could we have a "no spiders" mode? In books it's not so bad... But I don't read a lot of high fantasy novels, and luckily my partner is great and doesn't put spiders in our dnd game.
Ok so my cake questions might have something to do with this conversation with my husband.
ME: What would you like for your birthday cake?
HIM: A chocolate mousse cake please
ME: Um. Try again. Maybe something that I've made before
HIM: Nah. I have faith in you
ME: through gritted teeth Challenge excepted.
A little bit later
ME: Here's one. It has a little bit of liqueur in there. How about kalua?
HIM: Nah just chocolate. Nothing else
ME: through gritted teeth Challenge excepted
So I have collected my ingredients and will be commencing Operation Chocolate Mousse Cake Sample this afternoon. I shall post the results later.
Mozart liqueur is highly alcoholic chocolate - maybe use that instead of Kahlua? Wouldn't dilute the OTT chocoholism of the recipie. And vanilla extract (a little bit) will also accentuate the chocolate taste.
Exercises completed.. with bonus Minipeeler exercise buddy! I was only up for about 20 minutes and he said, "is it time for your exercises mum?" clearly wanting to join. Yeeees!
I've walked 5.25 ks today. Just at work and a bit of doing stuff. Time for a lie down. I got a free tv yesterday and my hard drive with all my legally acquired avi files seems to work very well with it. I'm going to re-watch the next gen. Started at s1e1 last night and it's as good as I remember.
This afternoon in the city I saw two women laughing and mocking a young trans.
Trans gal hurried/ran away with tears in their eyes. 😢 Wish I could have told them not to listen, that there are more caring people out there than haters and given a hug . But they were gone so quick and I don't blame them.
Happens a lot honestly. I gave some basic bros the finger the other day for it and just started them down. This was just in a supermarket. I usually frankly ask if they're gonna fucking say something, but it wears you down. They always act surprised and back down, but the damage is done. I'm resilient and am used to being laughed at for my appearance, but it's fucking awful for a lot of young people who haven't and shouldn't have to develop a thick skin. I've suffered a bunch of transphobia this week, from supposed allies. I choose not to engage with those people anymore. Allies are often mocked within the trans and gender non conforming community for how often their good will is misplaced. It's better that people try of course.
There's no way you can tell us not to listen either, that doesn't work. We all know transphobes are sick incels and terfs with bitterly shit lives and that more people love us than hate us, but experiencing it first hand sucks.
Mushrooms are good. I just don't have any fresh ones at the moment. And I've run out of freeze dried ones. I probably could have opened a jar of cooked ones, but I had tons of topping already.
Capsicum and Feta yes. It's beetroot leaves not kale - and I think the purple thing is probably a piece of beetroot stem. No mozzarella, there is parmesan, cheddar and halloumi.
That's really cute. I used to write notes for my daughter . I started off with the ten commandments and when I ran out of those I would write things like thou shall listen to thy mother and father, thou shall keep one's bedroom tidy, thou shall wash one hands before eating and so on. The ten commandments went for ever.
Mum got tickets for us to see Paul McCartney! I'm super excited. He's my favourite Beatle. Though I don't imagine he'll play any Beatles songs, so I guess I've gotta learn some Wings songs.
I'd heard that The Righteous Gemstones was a good show but I'd never thought to give it a shot. I thought the megachurch satire would be lost on me, not being from the US where this stuff is rife. I blasted through season 1 and it is great. Very much enjoying it.
They seem to have a running joke of making sure to get at least 1 exposed penis in a shot every episode. So if you're not into that, or if you are, now you know. There's doodles to be found here. Various real dude doodles not just porn star hogs too, which is nice for representation. You don't see that a lot.
Huh, might give it a shot. Megachurches interest the fuck out of me.
It's why I watch Fundie Fridays on YouTube. They talk about Christian fundamentalism and right wing politics while doing their makeup. Though Jen, the main person, hasn't been doing their makeup recently, and their partner does videos about right-wing politics. Obviously it's all through an American lens, but still very interesting and sad too.
I'm gonna make this Double chocolate mousse cake. Do you reckon I could leave out the liqueur? Because I reckon it wouldn't make a difference in the actual structure.
Yeah I have but there's not a lot out there like this. Usually when you make mousse you use egg whites to make it stiff but this recipe doesn't have this and I can't see the liqueur helping in that way. I guess I'm just gonna leave it out and hope for the best.
Maybe it’s supposed to be mocha flavoured. But also a lot of chocolate cake recipes say to add some coffee to enhance the chocolate flavour. I don’t think it would matter if it was left out.
Yeah that's what I'm thinking. It won't taste the same of course but it won't be bad either. I'm think I'm going to make mini samples and see how I go.
No pix tonight, but I cooked up a packet of 6 chicken & fetta sangers ready for ramen tomorrow. Only I've eaten four of them already. Sangers, that is. Am eyeing off the last two - will they last until tomorrow?
Image of lunch: a tomatoey stew type thing with capsicum, zucchini, onion, garlic, chilli, ginger, cherry tomatoes, broccolini and Briesling sardines, and passata, with a side of white rice. I added the sardines at the end, and seperated a serve with none to take to the office tomorrow for lunch!
What I did was: Onion and capsicum with a splash of water, lid on until it's a bit steamed and water has evaporated. Then add the garlic, ginger, and chilli and butter. Let that get going in there for a bit, then add the passata, cherry tomatoes and zucchini, let that go for a bit, then the broccolini for ~5m at the end. Probably not optimal but worked well!
Only to get the ball rolling. They end up sauteed once the other stuff goes in with the fat. I do it like that because I cook with butter which doesn't have a great tolerance for heat. So I like to get the onions cooked a bit without burning the butter to start, then once garlic and the rest goes in the onion sautees with those and the butter, but it's already started its cooking process
I can't say I have! I've been meaning to buy some ghee though for that reason, just haven't got around to it and have found ways to make do in the meantime 😋
One of the houses in my neighbourhood has put barbered wire around their property fences. Wtf. Is it a drug den? Do they have hostages I there? Creepy as fuck. I wonder if it’s even legal, I might check with the council.
I’m in a pretty average suburb, nothing fancy but not low socioeconomic either.
So that, and the poor dog being stolen has got me thinking to get some security cameras. The choices are a bit overwhelming, and I’m not super tech savvy. Recommendations appreciated.
Yes it’s occupied. I’ve lived in rough rough areas in the past, I’m guessing either trap house, growing/cooking, associated with bikies or other crims, or maybe they are just eccentric and paranoid. It’s just creepy to see.
A battery/solar/wifi camera is cheap and easy to install. $150, is okay but not great. An NVR with four cameras starts around $600 for the hardware, plus the install costs - someone licensed to run Ethernet cable. I've got a battery solar unit, I'm looking to upgrade to synology cameras but it's not an urgent expense.
Dude next door spent thousands on a proper wired system and 2 weeks later both his cars were stolen heh (shouldn't laugh could happen to anyone). Insurance he said still played very hardball on the claim even with footage.
I sort of gave up on thinking about it after that.
I suspect a well equipped thief will spot wifi cameras and jam those frequencies but I have no data to back this up, probably safe unless you have the world's largest diamond on display. :)
Wow that’s unlucky!
I have no idea where to start, but probably battery wifi. Easier to install. Agree they’re a chance that any footage won’t make a difference, but at least there would be less of a chance of crooks getting away with it if there’s some kind of images. And perhaps it would be a deterrent if they are in visible locations.
Go to Mt Macedon early morning. Park at Camel's hump and do the walk to the Cross. There and back is about a 2.5-3h walk. Not too challenging, but gets slippery in places.
On the drive back you stop at Lerdederg (if you're up for it) and do the walk to the dam. It's like 90 minutes return. You could do the hill climb (gotta cross the dam) which can be a challenge depending on your fitness level.
Thanks MeanElevator. I have a feeling we will just do the Mt Macedon one since my wife is working the next day - we will have a look at them tonight and decide.
Have you gone to Werribee Gorge? The 10km circuit walk is in my starter guide for anyone who wants to do something active/in nature in the west.
Lerderderg is beautiful, the circuit walk there is great but also a fair bit more challenging. There’s rivers to cross, the hike is shorter but a lot steeper. The view at the top is the pay-off, it’s great.
This is challenging, and definitely the road less travelled. Fantastic 4 hours on horseback, would require a whole day on foot. Quite close to Lerdederg Pyrites Range, Coimadai
EDIT: further info
Thanks Thornburywitch :) will check this one too. We might give Lerdeberg a pass actually until later due to the general consensus being a challenging hike (and our fitness levels are relatively substandard)
Not on my bingo card for today was a director in the business trying to convince me that I don't understand my own car's registration. Sure, dude, sure.
If I wanted to suggest a change to a traffic light sequence, should I be contacting VicRoads or my local Council? (If it's VicRoads, is there a specific email/contact form I should use? Or do just try the generic contact email and hope for the best?)
VicRoads, they nearly all traffic lights for councils, under contract. 13 11 70 goes to traffic management, rather than license inquiries.
SCATS (traffic light software) is usually good at learning traffic patterns, however it can easily be thrown off by one off events (eg knock-off at a footy game).
Oh man I'd love to see that! Reminded me a bit of The Hu Band Warning: contains Mongolians, metal, motorbikes and throat singing. You may feel empowered to overthrow invaders after watching it!
I was exploring heavy metal and folk hybrid music (for want of a better description) from other countries and stumbled upon it. It blew my little suburban mum mind!
I love how positively haunted it is with the attic and what not. Would be a fun fixer-upper. But it's a dump. It's not liveable. It needs a lot of work. It's not on a lot of land. It's not near anything major in Tasmania (like Hobart or Launceston). The only "benefit" is how old it is.
I would love to have the $$ to buy something like that, renovate the shit out of it and live away from people.
Having said that, probably looking at like 200k in renovations (most likely more). The 550 seems low too considering what properties are going for these days.
So basically about a million to live in bumblefuck.
There is a massive lack of supply of housing in Australia. Very little is government built (unlike the 60s and 70s when govs were pumping cash in building homes), and developers are squeezing all they can out of buyers. Limited quantity of builders as well, so older and established 'gems' are fetching a pretty price.
I would love to have the $$ to buy something like that, renovate the shit out of it and live away from people.
All I want in this life is a balcony to sip my coffee on of a morning and look out at some mountains and trees.
I'm with you. The potential is there for something really beautiful. Though my opinion might change if the structure is as dire as it possibly could be.
I understand the potential but paying for potential just seems...crazy. It's like "give me heaps of money so you can spend more money on the potential."
Whaddya mean ? It’s right near the bustling metropolis of Devo. Jewel of the North.!
Seriously that’s a decent size plot tho. The house doesn’t look too bad and would really shine with a bit of love. I don’t know the comps to really judge tho.
Holy mackerel, I swear driving inbound on the M1 from the outer west is going to be the death of me. Also if I see one more person indicate and then immediately merge or not indicate at all, I am going to scream. Indicating is a warning to those around you, and that means you need to give everyone sufficient time to heed your warning.
This month long stint living in the mid-outer west has been like a baptism of fire. Dear fucking god. Any and all hours of the day there is some top shelf lunacy on the M1
Boundaries people!! Everyone in the docos are far too nice and let the hoarders walk all over them. They let the hoarders ruin their home and ruin their neighbourhood, They make it really unhealthy and unsafe for everyone else.
Does anyone know how fast those Lime scooters can go vs how fast it actually goes? Rode one today and was easily overtaken by private eScooters even though I was flooring that thing with my thumb HARD.
@goodviking@bot001 those private scooters are almost certainly over the legal limit, which I think is 250w, but you can buy them for "off road" use with larger motors. nobody checks of course, but the scooter share companies have to offer legal vehicles for sure.

Yeah manslaughter is plausible. I bet my bottom dollar they're now looking into the ex husband's medical records though.
They have, apparrently he had some mystery illness that put him in hospital in an induced coma for 16 days.....

Oh they know a lot more that the media don't. The ex husband was hospitalised for some undisclosed mystery illness. This story is gonna be big.
I think we need to get Vera on the case.
Or Columbo.
Miss Marple. Sitting there over afternoon tea. By the time she's finished her brew she's got the answer.
Hopefully the answer is not contaminated tea...
I was gonna cook a mushroom medly when I go camping on the weekend. Guess thats off the table 🙃
No foraging. Stick to baked beans mate.
T'Gallant Winery in Mornington Peninsula run mushroom foraging tours on their property, pretty fun :) https://mushroomtours.com/

Her and the kids didn't eat them. Only the four guests but there is so much more to this story. Can't wait for the book.
3 part Netflix documentary?
I was just thinking podcast.
who shat on the floor at my wedding sequel: who put mushrooms in my luncheon
Ok, so death cap mushrooms do resemble the edible ones I described, but you'd still need to be a fucking idiot to not know the difference and cook and feed them to people. She could very well be a fucking idiot.

Here's the paywall free version. Thot is plickening.
Interesting. Thanks for that.
For a quick and healthy snack, this little number really shines. Ricotta, apple, walnut, and honey on toast.
Ooo I have been needing healthy snack ideas! Thanks for sharing 🤤
That looks good! Have you tried banana on toast? It’s nice with a bit of tahini, or just butter
That’s a fantastic idea. Will try !
Wow. I love it. Would you drizzle the honey on top?
Yes! Can’t really see it in the photo.
that looks really nice. I would eat it. I am too tired to make it.
Hey thanks.

It was delicious. Highly recommend. 5/5 yum yums.
Yum! And your hubby was right 😉
So did you do the choc ripple bikkies instead of blitzing the generic. choc biscuits and mixing with melted butter?
Yes exactly. Just one whole choc ripple biscuit in the patty pan. Put the mousse on top. Put it in the fridge and the fridge softens the biscuit a bit so it's not hard. When I make the normal size cake I'll do the proper biscuit base.
This sounds excellent! I don't have a food processor plus this saves cleaning one thing.
Jeez it's a new day already and we're not getting any younger :(
😱💀
the alternative is unacceptable
Speak for yourself
Kidcalhoon1 has a big week this week. Orthodontic expander being fitted this morning, then new Scoliosis Brace fitting tomorrow morning. Poor kid.
Far better than surgery latter in life. Or having to deal with the brace in your late teens like my brother did. Still sucky, of course, but could be far far worse.
Yeah. She's got a lot on but handling it like a trooper.
I have no motivation to even look for my motivation.
Afternoon full of online meetings is not looking pleasant.
Pray. For. Mojo.
Dojo Mojo Casa House?
Is 2023 over yet?
2023 is the hard work year setting you up for a better 2024. Better to have one year of shit than spread shit across 2 years.
Boy I hope so.
Sending you hugs!
Thanks :-)
it's 2032.
Dan Andrews is still State Premier and the Monash still has roadworks.
I don't know guys. It looks a bit like whipped poo but it tastes good. I added a little bit of icing sugar to compensate for the missing liqueur. Let's see if it sets. I'll let you know later.
Image of six mini mousse cakes.
I would eat that poo even with the gonorrhea going around atm
The daily thread is wild today.
I knew you could post gifs directly in comments. Why can’t I get it to work?
Just copy my homework, use a direct link to the file on another website:
The upload button doesn't work for GIFs, I think.
Lol. Still can’t work it out. Thanks though.
I too would like to know. Here's trying to post a gif as a picture:

Whipped poo 👌
🤤🤤🤤
Feeling vulnerable and a mix of boo feelings this morning. A dollop of anxiety, a splash of resentment, a smidge of anger. Why are people so shit???
It’s been 7 hours hope you’re feeling better than this morning
Thanks. I think so. I do sense a second wave of rage coming on for no reason but I think I'm just gonna clock out and get some couch time in.
I think that’s a good idea. Maybe watch something light and funny or one of your favourite movies to distract
Yes good idea! Thank you 🤗
Absolutely. Hope your mood changes soon and you have a better night hugs

The wind blew the back door open and Miss Meow escaped into the courtyard. She is not a fan of the wind and voluntarily came inside fairly quickly. She's now having a nap to recover from the ordeal.
I'm glad I got into the garden yesterday, the wind is making it not so nice outside, even if the sun is welcome. I made some of the jeruselum artichokes into soup, some for lunch tomorrow and six serves in the freezer. I've still got a couple of kg in the fridge, they definitely give a high return on investment.
Just nbeen outside myself. The Sun was nice, the wind not so much sadly.
I'm glad more games are doing colourblind mode (at least that's what I'm assuming).
And jumpscares, especially in non horror games... And stories.
I hate watching movies in general for this very reason.
Yep jumpscares are the WORST! Was watching a tiktok that had it, almost threw my phone.
agree, I think spiders is a lazy way writers get a fear response
Exactly. Like I understand that it's there because it's fantasy. But like... For the visual medium could we have a "no spiders" mode? In books it's not so bad... But I don't read a lot of high fantasy novels, and luckily my partner is great and doesn't put spiders in our dnd game.
I might have to grin and bare it to get the XP.
It’d also be great to not have flashing lights or fast repetitive jittery movements
That too! I don't have any epilepsy problems but it's still annoying. Most games have started to at least allow to turn off shakey cam.
This book concept cracked me up https://www.amazon.com.au/Pop-Up-Book-Phobias-Gary-Greenberg/dp/0688171958 😎
That's horrible! I love it. But also ouch that price.
Ooo good advice. Thank you.
My challenge to you is not throw the fucking thing at husband if he doesn't work out what a dick he was about said cake and really love it.
Nah he wasn't being a dick. He just really loves chocolate mousse. No choc bits, no nuts, nothing special in it. Just plain chocolate mousse.
Oh good! The mousse looked nice and moussey.
It was really really good.
Why do I have to go to work, it's so nice outside. I just want to lay in the sun somewhere nice and read the day away.
Just said to my manager "it's a pretty day, why are we here?"
Everyone should get a free pass to play outside on a sunny day.
Exercises completed.. with bonus Minipeeler exercise buddy! I was only up for about 20 minutes and he said, "is it time for your exercises mum?" clearly wanting to join. Yeeees!
Bless! So sweet 🥰
I read somewhere that negative events and words have 20 times the impact on our brain/emotions than positive events.
So when shit happens to me I tell myself the people that did it are not that important. It's hard and horrible tho.
Big big hugs.
I have no idea if they were terfs. I suspect that the intolerance was in part ethnicity based.
There’s some truth in that. I’ve never forgotten certain things that has happened when I was bullied as a kid and it still stings and weighs me down.
Positive events related to that subject haven’t stuck with me at all.
My office gets warm anyways, so I have to decide if I'm going to overheat or wear enough clothes where I can get warm enough once I get to the office.
::: spoiler Dinner

Hats off to the chef, that's a very pleasing thickness and diversity of toppings!
No mushrooms today though. They've got a bad rep at the moment.
:( one day I will start a moshrom campaign in here. They are next to potat in importance.
Mushrooms are good. I just don't have any fresh ones at the moment. And I've run out of freeze dried ones. I probably could have opened a jar of cooked ones, but I had tons of topping already.
Damn. That looks great!
Let's play spot the ingredients!
I got Capsicum, Kale, Feta... Purply thing that's maybe meat. Mozzarella?
Capsicum and Feta yes. It's beetroot leaves not kale - and I think the purple thing is probably a piece of beetroot stem. No mozzarella, there is parmesan, cheddar and halloumi.
Omfg 🤤🤤🤤
Feta, green beans and maybe bacon.
Damn it. You already said feta.
Feta yes, no to beans and bacon. You are probably looking at the green capsicum and chorizo salami.
That looks amazing. How many yum yums would you give it?
Four out of five yums. It loses a yum for using a baker's delight base instead of making it myself.
That looks fantastic!
Wow!
- lunch notes for the kids, beach theme.
That's really cute. I used to write notes for my daughter . I started off with the ten commandments and when I ran out of those I would write things like thou shall listen to thy mother and father, thou shall keep one's bedroom tidy, thou shall wash one hands before eating and so on. The ten commandments went for ever.
aww, you're so sweet . Your kids are going to remember this forever.
PSA: It is now warm. It will rain tomorrow. It is time to procure the necessary items.
I've decided I'm making pizza for dinner tonight, and doing a burger tomorrow night. I'm doing dinner early today, I'm hungry!
Mum got tickets for us to see Paul McCartney! I'm super excited. He's my favourite Beatle. Though I don't imagine he'll play any Beatles songs, so I guess I've gotta learn some Wings songs.
He's still got it. He and his band fucking rock. I'm over big concerts and most old music, but he's really impressive.
I can caulk! I CAN FUCKING CAULK!!!!!
As in Selleys No More Gaps or something more industrial?????
As in... I'm getting around to watching The Bear and I love this show so much I want to cry.
I can't :( even after reading things.
Accidentally played video games and raced to get ready to go to work, was worried I'd be late but nope on time.
It's my boss that's late. Was kind of hoping I'd get to go back home.
i will acquire chicken nuggets for afternoon tea today.
sauce: homemade honey mustard.
Dentist managed to fit me in, but I feel like an ass
Just make sure they work on the right end...
You ever look at that fundie subreddits.?
Sometimes but not often enough.
Yeah I don’t really get many of the jokes on those subs.
I'm gonna make this Double chocolate mousse cake. Do you reckon I could leave out the liqueur? Because I reckon it wouldn't make a difference in the actual structure.
Maybe I do a test run first.
Could you google some alternatives?
Yeah I have but there's not a lot out there like this. Usually when you make mousse you use egg whites to make it stiff but this recipe doesn't have this and I can't see the liqueur helping in that way. I guess I'm just gonna leave it out and hope for the best.
I'd skip the liqueur and just add that amount of sweet coffee.
Yeah that's an idea I'm thinking of too. I'm going to make samples without liquer and if it's lacking in flavour that's exactly what I'm going to do.
I think yes. If you wanted to keep the coffee flavour, could just use the same amount of coffee.
I was thinking that but wouldn't it take away the chocolate taste?
Maybe it’s supposed to be mocha flavoured. But also a lot of chocolate cake recipes say to add some coffee to enhance the chocolate flavour. I don’t think it would matter if it was left out.
Yeah that's what I'm thinking. It won't taste the same of course but it won't be bad either. I'm think I'm going to make mini samples and see how I go.
Coffee is usually used to enhance chocolate flavour in recipes I’m pretty sure!
Yay! I donated stuff, bought stuff, picked up stuff and am about to do some musical stuff.
I was gonna whinge about stuff but was too stuffed.
(Sorry)
My belly rumbles. Too many lifesaver musks 🤢🤢🤢
I hate myself
Almost haiku-bot:
My belly rumbles.
Too many lifesaver musks
🤢🤢🤢 I hate myself
That's why you need to play buzzword bingo!
🍄
No pix tonight, but I cooked up a packet of 6 chicken & fetta sangers ready for ramen tomorrow. Only I've eaten four of them already. Sangers, that is. Am eyeing off the last two - will they last until tomorrow?
just had some spinach quiche that I cooked last night
tomorrow I'll make some pizzas , a vegie one and a pepperoni one
Image of lunch: a tomatoey stew type thing with capsicum, zucchini, onion, garlic, chilli, ginger, cherry tomatoes, broccolini and Briesling sardines, and passata, with a side of white rice. I added the sardines at the end, and seperated a serve with none to take to the office tomorrow for lunch!
Ooooh. Very very nice. Packed with veg! I presume you cook down the passata first with the aromatics before adding the veg?
What I did was: Onion and capsicum with a splash of water, lid on until it's a bit steamed and water has evaporated. Then add the garlic, ginger, and chilli and butter. Let that get going in there for a bit, then add the passata, cherry tomatoes and zucchini, let that go for a bit, then the broccolini for ~5m at the end. Probably not optimal but worked well!
Steamed onion! Interesting 🤔 is there a reason you prefer that to sautéing them?
Only to get the ball rolling. They end up sauteed once the other stuff goes in with the fat. I do it like that because I cook with butter which doesn't have a great tolerance for heat. So I like to get the onions cooked a bit without burning the butter to start, then once garlic and the rest goes in the onion sautees with those and the butter, but it's already started its cooking process
Aha, I see why now, that makes total sense. Have you tried cultured butter at all? It seems to do a lot better with prolonged/higher heat
I can't say I have! I've been meaning to buy some ghee though for that reason, just haven't got around to it and have found ways to make do in the meantime 😋
Don't worry. I had your share 👍
Do you have any idea what this brought this on? 🤔
I have gymed. A distinct lack of cardio today, but my lifts are great
Does the role of assassin involve much heavy lifting? :)
Once again I've left the defrosting till too late. I'd be fired by now if I worked at a kitchen.
i just use the microwave defrost function right before cooking
I may have to do that to get out of this frosty situation.
So I misread the time of my dental appointment. Today's off to a great start
Too early or too late?
Late. They managed to fit me in, but I feel like a heel
Don’t feel too bad, it happens to all of us. I mean, maybe feel bad if you’ve done it 6 times in a row, but don’t stress otherwise.
Cats have been snuggling on my shoulders and have only just let me up.
2?
I got gelato. It's like I've been punched in the face by a passionfruit
I miss gelato. I was ordering fancy gelato via ubereats during lockdowns but now I need to not have fancy gelato.
I'd get a tub with 3 flavours.. coconut, choc mint and amarena cherry and it was very very good.
Fuck yeah, gelato. Excellent choice!!
Sometimes people walk past and they just stink. 🤷♀️
divide and conquer.
It'll get more interesting.
Hmm is it occupied? It might have been getting squatted or had copper thieves or something. Or you know a trap house.
I guess the first question is wired or wifi.
I like the google home/nest cameras.
Zzzzzzz 🥔💤
A potato snooze. I have not tried that recipe before but I'm willing to give it a red hot go because I'm on fire right now. Challenge excepted.
The 💤 is actually the sound of a microwave
Looking to travel in the west/northwest direction this weekend.
Last time we went east.
Any stop recommendations please, less than 100km from the Melbourne CBD and emphasis on nature/forests?
Currently have Mount Macedon and Lerderderg State Park in mind, but will probably just go to one of them.
Make the most of it and do the following.
You'll we well knackered once you get home.
Thank you:) will take a look at this one in addition to the Mt Macedon/Lederberg.
They are both beautiful and worth it.
This is challenging, and definitely the road less travelled. Fantastic 4 hours on horseback, would require a whole day on foot. Quite close to Lerdederg Pyrites Range, Coimadai EDIT: further info
Thanks Thornburywitch :) will check this one too. We might give Lerdeberg a pass actually until later due to the general consensus being a challenging hike (and our fitness levels are relatively substandard)
My dad used to live in the Macedon ranges, I always got a lot of inspiration whenever I stayed for the weekend.
🎼Mm, but she blinded me with science
(She blinded me with science!)
And failed me in biology, yeah🎶
Not on my bingo card for today was a director in the business trying to convince me that I don't understand my own car's registration. Sure, dude, sure.
I'm feeling skittish and translucent.
I see you
👀😳
If I wanted to suggest a change to a traffic light sequence, should I be contacting VicRoads or my local Council? (If it's VicRoads, is there a specific email/contact form I should use? Or do just try the generic contact email and hope for the best?)
VicRoads, they nearly all traffic lights for councils, under contract. 13 11 70 goes to traffic management, rather than license inquiries.
SCATS (traffic light software) is usually good at learning traffic patterns, however it can easily be thrown off by one off events (eg knock-off at a footy game).
Chicken shawarma and mejadra for dins.
Bring dat ME flava.
I saw, and heard, some of these type guys playing and singing in Bourke st mall, not quite the steppes They had traditional costume too. 👍

Oh man I'd love to see that! Reminded me a bit of The Hu Band Warning: contains Mongolians, metal, motorbikes and throat singing. You may feel empowered to overthrow invaders after watching it!
I’m surprised to see someone else knows the Hu!
I was exploring heavy metal and folk hybrid music (for want of a better description) from other countries and stumbled upon it. It blew my little suburban mum mind!
I don't understand real estate.
I was looking online for fun and saw this house. https://www.realestate.com.au/property-house-tas-forth-141066708
"Accepting offers over 550k"
I truly don't get how.
Shit's fucked
I'd settle for not having daily power tool noises at this stage.
Mountains would be nice though
I'm with you. The potential is there for something really beautiful. Though my opinion might change if the structure is as dire as it possibly could be.
I understand the potential but paying for potential just seems...crazy. It's like "give me heaps of money so you can spend more money on the potential."
Because it is crazy. Crazy and unsustainable. To spend nearly seven figures for a home in rural Tassie is bonkers.
A building/structural inspector would be the first step before even considering it. Could be sturdy with minor structural works neede
Never let your enemy know your next move.
Assume all drivers are your enemy.
Shove your head as far up your arse as you can.
Congratulations you have passed the western suburbs driver's test now.
This month long stint living in the mid-outer west has been like a baptism of fire. Dear fucking god. Any and all hours of the day there is some top shelf lunacy on the M1
I'm watching a show about hoarders. One of the irrational things they do is keep so many clothes that are ragged or don't or never fit them.
Boundaries people!! Everyone in the docos are far too nice and let the hoarders walk all over them. They let the hoarders ruin their home and ruin their neighbourhood, They make it really unhealthy and unsafe for everyone else.
oh noes, the hoarders are feeling a little anxious. In the meantime everyone around them are exposed to dangerous biohazards.
How dare they endanger other people.
Does anyone know how fast those Lime scooters can go vs how fast it actually goes? Rode one today and was easily overtaken by private eScooters even though I was flooring that thing with my thumb HARD.
20kph they're limited to
@goodviking @bot001 those private scooters are almost certainly over the legal limit, which I think is 250w, but you can buy them for "off road" use with larger motors. nobody checks of course, but the scooter share companies have to offer legal vehicles for sure.
faster than the wait time for an orthopaedic surgeon appointment.
Why you only calling us when you got your dramas? One of these days we'll repay you we'll slay you.

Ooooh yum.
food pretty
Cold leftover pizza this morning thanks, with hot coffee. It's going to be a lovely day - once the sun comes up.
🍕🔥☕️
Thank you! I particularly liked the asparagus tips on the pizza - a welcome addition.

I know it's late and nobody will likely see this, but this YT of Norman Cook's (aka fat Boy Slim) daughter DJing with him is hilarious
Westpac is pushing a password change, they finally allow more than 6 characters. It's a miracle!
Blergh, I should be asleep. Strange how being home for less than 24 hours makes a trip feel like it was aeons ago.
Yeah. All went ok this morning.
