Partner officially diagnosed with ADHD, and a treatment plan now in place. I'm so proud of him!

We got back to Brunswick, had a couple of Doppel Ename from Mokum, and then got some beer from Blackhearts and Sparrows. It's been a lovely birthday.

Thank you all so much for your birthday wishes and good vibes!! I don't know where I would be without you all! ๐Ÿ’œ๐Ÿ’œ๐Ÿ’œ

From a spousal perspective: you know how sometimes you feel like you're dealing with a toddler and want to stuff them in the toilet? Meds will help drop that shit riiiight down

Homeopathic that shit, put it in a litre of water, then put 10ml into another litre of water then take a few drops on sugar pills. Back yard dexies here ya go.

I've been falling asleep to hour+ long videos on space, by Astrum Extra, so I don't know why I had a nightmare about

::: spoiler tw blood Living alone and finding blood everywhere in my house, running to the neighbours for help, then waking up to find blood everywhere in my house, running to the neighbours for help, then waking up to find blood everywhere in my house, then running to the neighbours for help... And so on. It was a good 15-20 loops before I woke up at 3am.

::: The cat came and cuddled me so I fell back asleep and was fine. I'm not upset, just tripped out lol.

Second ADHD assessment appointment for my partner today, so another trip across the city. Gonna treat myself with a cafe coffee, because it's my birthday ๐Ÿ˜‚

My beautiful friend came over yesterday, and made a delicious soup, healing for the mind, body, and soul. I feel so happy to have spent the day with them. They got to meet Mickey, we took a walk, it was great! They gave me their guitar, so I've been practicing last night - gonna practice more this afternoon when I return. I do wish I had slightly longer, thinner fingers so I stop flattening the other strings when practicing chords, but I'm sure I'll get the hang of it with practice.

12

Happy birthday!! Go treat yourself and have a wonderful day!

Full moon this weekend. Plus hotter than expected weather. Expect weird shit to go down. Not liking the vibe rn. I will be avoiding crowds this weekend.

Just a feeling in my bones. Don't get these often but I've learned to listen. Stay safe everyone.

5

Cool. I usually am when I take the Minipeelers out though. I tend to go out earlier in the day on weekends, which they sometimes complain about, but you avoid a lot of afternoon crowds and evening shenanigans.

It took me nearly a month after getting my psych to fill out uni support forms (which she did within 24 hours of asking) to actually submit them to the uni out of paralysis/shame/anxiety/whatever - I did it this morning and then got a response from the subject coordinator eerily quickly... was out doing fieldwork and told myself I wouldn't read it till I got home because I was fully expecting a "no".

Turns out I got 10 days extension no questions asked. Fucking A. Sat with so much anxiety and avoidance for nothing.

Gonna celebrate by treating myself to an afternoon and evening of yet more PHM. Good good good. Thank!

I have just submitted my first rental application, which was slightly terrifying. It is a lot more involved than the last time I was looking for a private rental (over 20 years ago!)

Hopefully they haven't just rented it to someone else, the landlord falls in love with Mr Woof and Miss Meow when they see the pictures, the property will be just as I imagine it in real life and I won't have to look at any others. Unlikely, but I can hope!

Only 2 3 wake ups so far. Not bad.

Oh I bet I had a more generic white guy name. I think my name was the most common boys name the year I was born. Couple that with one of the top 5 English surnames and every ID check I ever did failed cause it had to go through an extensive review cause no one believed that was my real name.

Got a better last name now I'm married though.

Almost feels like he did it purely to be able to boast to the American public that he (allegedly) had world leaders kissing his ass at a recent dinner due to these tariffs.

Saw: He Huang (absolute best of the night), Nazeem Hussein, Dave Hughes, and an Australian/African girl who's name I sadly forgot who was second best for me - has her own show and is going to be on taskmaster this season. It was a work social club thing and I almost bailed but I'm so glad it didn't. Buzzing ๐Ÿ˜Š

I have van. Now I'm waiting for an assessment of whether the reversing camera can be installed without a new head unit ๐Ÿคž

It is nice sitting up high and being able to see further, but it will take a while to get used to primarily using the side mirrors. I have so far managed to avoid turning on the windscreen wipers instead of the blinkers.

Edit: this is taking much longer than anticipated.

2nd Edit: I will need a new head unit. The good news is they can do it tomorrow, so will be able to back more confidently very soon. I did manage to back into my carport without too much trouble when I got home, although the sensors' beeping adds a new feeling of drama to the process.

8

if your existing headunit doesnt have carplay/android auto just replace the headunit anyway. its a game changer!

5
just_kittenreply

Seconding getting the head unit upgraded to one that has carplay/android auto (if it doesn't already) - it makes SO much difference. Got it done on my car and while it was a strain on the wallet in one hit, it has paid off in scads from all the times it has made navigation etc so much better (and safer) than a mounted phone.

1

It will be having android auto - it has some connection already, but it might just be to play music. I have a TomTom gps unit that I actually really like for navigation, both because it keeps the maps downloaded and doesn't need internet connection and because the dashboard or windscreen mount position is better to look at than in the centre console.

3

That actually sounds very nice, especially as I know you collect seashells and things. Before this place, my houses all had an antique store jungle bazaar vibe. Since I had the kids and started living here it's been no indoor plants and nothing quirky and interesting, just a very practical and boring "doesn't matter if it gets dirty/found on someone's nature strip" vibe. With the exception of the kids art and photos of course.

When this under 16 ban comes in Iโ€™m going to lose all the collected art resources I carefully organised and all my YouTube playlistsโ€ฆ

VPNs get you banned or shadowbanned but kids under 16 wonโ€™t care. They could just keep churning through a bunch of new accounts, the disposability encouraging them to do whatever they want.

But for me when Iโ€™m unwell and canโ€™t do much else I spend a lot of time collecting and organising reference photos, art tutorials, and posts with links to free art books. Thereโ€™s a few years worth that will be near impossible to back up.

And I donโ€™t know what sites will be affected which makes it hard to even try to start migrating.

::: spoiler spoiler (โ€˜Download accountโ€™ options never seem to work - I always end up having to go back and do it manually.)

Even if I buy a dedicated external drive then screenshot and paste links it will be hard to preserve sources or keep images and related information together. Itโ€™s a mammoth task to do manually and the old fashioned way. Archiving is literally a job. And you canโ€™t go back to look at them without a login.

For the YouTube playlists maybe I can screenshot to be able to find some difficult to search stuff later, or paste the titles into a mega document, but oh man. Not a good solution. :::

It will also cut me off from a lot of other artists.

This crap isnโ€™t going to do anything but punish disabled people who spend a lot of time online and people who care about privacy.

But thatโ€™s the Australian governmentโ€™s way. Make grand promises (usually involving โ€œprotecting the childrenโ€) and then do something that doesnโ€™t work - and has unintended consequences.

I have much more to say about that but Iโ€™m tired -_-

3

I could but at the moment it might be a bit of a steep learning curve for me. And if it gets picked up as changing where my traffic comes from Iโ€™ll probably be banned (so instead of inaccessible everything would just be gone)

2

You can do this Low! a 5% late penalty is not the end of the world. I guarantee you it will not even register on your mind 10, 20, 30 years later and when you're on your deathbed reflecting on the things that mattered to you.

And truth be told academic structures are not always conducive to those with attention disorders. I am only smashing it at my current job because the deadlines are all within 2 weeks, the projects are almost all short term, and there is support and advice available most of the time.
