I think this is what Musk is up to.
He's laying the groundwork to maintain power when things turn to shit. They want a feudal / authoritarian structure. You need serfs toiling away in the toxic wasteland to support the privileged few living under the dome.
Trump doesn't care because he will be dead soon.
Also because he's a narcissistic asshole. Most people who will be dead soon still care about what happens to their world and the world of everyone they know after they're gone.

Yeah. I'm not so confident. The fact that Trump got elected in a free and fair election doesn't fill me with confidence.
We're sailing in to troubled times and things are looking fairly bleak, yet the people that voted for Trump are never going to acknowledge that they were wrong and that they need to re-consider their political ideologies.
I do however believe that Trump and Musk have unleashed a shit storm of biblical proportions and that they have no understanding of just how bad they've fucked up.
