It depends how chompy your cat is. It's not intrinsicly poisonous like a lily but has oxalates so if your cat decides to eat it it will get irritated. But yeah if it's a gift I would stear clear

It looks just like my philodendron Brasil (which is in desperate need of some water so isn't as glossy as yours)
Not cat safe then. I shall dispose of it and find something else for the nice pot.
