PSA AR pistol BCG upgrade

I recently got a complete .300 blk AR pistol from psa with a 7.5” barrel. I was going to swap out the bcg it came with for a BCM m16 BCG I’ve got at home. I’ve got no experience with ARs with barrels shorter than 16”. Is there any reason the BCM M16 BCG would be less optimized in this short pistol?

Below is all the info I have on the BCG it came with: Full-auto profile bolt carrier group. Shot-peened, mil-spec Carpenter No. 158® steel bolt. Gas Key Hardened to USGI Specifications, Fastened with Grade 8 screws, and Staked Per Mil-Spec.

Possibly. A rifle BCG will work in a pistol, but BCGs made specifically for pistols can come with more aggressive extractors. I don't actually know if the PSA one does not, but that's something to look into. You can certainly drop the BCG in an see what happens, at worst you should only have cycling issues but there isn't any red flag for a catastrophic issue.

I think more than the BCG, you should also make sure you have a heavy buffer. The internet consensus seems to settle on an H2 as working well in such a short barrel gas system.

Thank you. I’ve switched it over but still haven’t gotten out to the range yet to test its function.

Thanks for your input on the buffer weight I actually don’t know it came with. If it starts having any trouble I’ll definitely look at making an adjustment there.
