Kinda strange considering about half of all Brits are woman themselves.

Had a conversation with a female biologist who was unaware that her intact female dog would have a heat cycle.

People simply don’t think things through.

my sister, who went to an agricultural uni, told me domesticated cows just produce milk, like how chickens just lay eggs
so me, a guy with not much relevant formal education, would feel weird asking back "are you sure?"
it was a few years ago, maybe i should revisit

Im actually surprised it’s as high as it is.

I didn't know this until I was watching Dominion after deciding to go vegan. I didn't really think about it much, but I figured they were bred to always produce milk or something, like how sheep have been bred to keep growing wool.

Looking closer at the survey, that's maybe true for the calf separation question, but the first question about impregnation is more straightforward

Before taking this survey, were you aware that dairy cows are impregnated annually to enable milk production?

Yes, I was aware [48%]

No, I wasn't aware [52%]

(Removed my highlighting of bit about calf separation from the body because that question wording is a little poor)

They probably think they're like laying hens.

Which doesn't really make sense when you think about it, but carnists do their best to never think about their food so...

I was 45 when I realized this. I'm not a moron, I just never considered it. And then I went vegan.

I thought they just gave them hormones so they produce milk? They dont have to impregnated i think. Idk not an expert, feel free to explain why im wrong.

They need to be impregnated. The dosage of hormones needed to make them spontaneously lactate is probably dangerous or too unpredictable. Pregnancy is cheaper, safer, and more reliable.
