Dove is from Unilever which is British.
Head and Shoulders and Pantene are Procter & Gamble Which is from USA.
Pantene was originally from Switzerland. So I wasn't aware it's American now. Since 1985. 🫣
Yeah, Unilever is quite some British people's national prides.
It started as a Dutch/British joint company, and it's still quite some Dutch people's national pride.
I don't think they're that good a company to feel nationalism for but there are worse companies (Nestlé for one)
After a lifetime of dealing with dandruff, I've recently discovered the best anti-dandruff shampoo in the world, hands down: hot water.
No shampoo at all. Just scrubbing with hot water every two-three days. After about a month or two the scalp stops overcompensating for the degreasing effect of shampoos and calms down. The first month will be pretty itchy and dandruffy though. Tapering out shampoo use gradually and some spray-on/drip-on anti-seboreic dermatitis lotion can keep things under control until the scalp normalizes.
Shower gel: Original Source. We love the mint one in our household and have loved it for at least ten years. The brand is British and vegan too, for those who care. They have a lot of fun and wacky variants, but the mint one is still the best one.
For hair I will probably return to Elvital (L'Oreal Paris) when my last Herbal Essence bottle is empty.
As for face creams and other stuff like that, I use Neutral which is a Danish brand that is known for their neutral products that are suitable for people with allergies or people like me who would like to put less toxic shit on our skin.
Whichever one has no warnings in ToxFox¹. I am partial to Schwarzkopf's Nature Box line but I'm the end I'm not picky as long as there's no nasty shit in there.
¹Explanation for non-Germans: ToxFox is a mobile app released by German eco-NGO BUND. It lets you scan a cosmetic product's barcode to look it up in an ingredients database. It will show warnings if the product contains stuff like microplastics or ingredients that aren't entirely harmless.
My hair likes some Garnier conditioners and masks. I thought Aussie was, well, Australian but it seems that's part of pg so... And I've been using a solid shampoo that's great but I threw the wrapper many months ago and I can't remember the brand.
I love the own brands form Rossmann (German but starting to expand) and for shampoo specifically have mostly switched to solid bars. Gels only for travel 😉
Henkel were extremely enthusiastic participants in the Third Reich. If the object of buying European is to dunk on Americans, then fine. But if it’s a matter of ethics, then those who actively participated in the Holocaust would seem to me to be poor substitutes.
1945 was 80 years ago. None of the people working at any german company today were even born when the Holocaust happened. I don't see how that topic is relevant when it comes to buying decisions today.
Punish corporations for stuff that they actually can influence today, not for stuff that nobody alive is even responsible for.
Yves Rocher is still doing business in Russia. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yves_Rocher#Yves_Rocher_in_Russian_market
And they participated in fabricating the case against Navalny which eventually killed him.
and they’re quite involved in israel too
(to be clear: so are P&G and unilever, who own H&S, pantene and dove)

TIL Dove (and Unilever) are based in the UK!!

Yves Rocher still sales in Russia. Shame on them.
AFAIK they're at least partially owned by Nestle, so their products are a definite no-no.
I've not used liquid shampoo for about 3 years now.
I only use solid shampoo, which currently is the one from Fer à Cheval.
Stylé. Je connaisais pas mais ça à l’air bien plus écolo. Je vais acheter pour tenter.
En tout cas, j'en suis très content :)
Yeah same I've been on solid shampoo for like 8 years and it's great, and no more plastic waste.
This?
How do you use it, though? Like a soap bar?
No, it's this one (the site exists in English if needed). What you linked is the conditioner.
And yes, you use it like soap, but directly on your hair. It very quickly produces "soap bubbles".
Wait, am I reading correctly that it has no perfume?
The shampoo does have a small scent:
Aah okay! Thanks!
Do you have long hair? For some reason I imagine it would be difficult to get it on without missing a spot (I have never tried this before)
I don't have long hair, but I find that it behaves like a liquid shampoo. But I can't say how it would exactly work on long hair.
that's interesting, thanks for sharing!
Solid shampoo here, everyone should switch imo

I think this was the video that I first got the idea from:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zmDBYsRJN7A
Just pour it out in a bowl an keep it in the freezer.
Ebay my friend

Any particular recommendations?
Idk I buy a generic one at the supermarket, I've seen there's plenty of choice on ebay tho
Have you happened to see any with no or truly mild perfume? I've been looking on and off through the years without finding any
Nope,I never considered the smell an issue so I don't chose based on that criteria.
Understandable, thanks

Well not Pantene anymore I guess :)
But I use Guhl for my conditioner, which is european, right?turns out its not, its Kao (japanese).Whichever one has no warnings in ToxFox¹. I am partial to Schwarzkopf's Nature Box line but I'm the end I'm not picky as long as there's no nasty shit in there.

i'm bald
What you save in shampoo, you lose in soap.
I use Valquer because:
Garnier, L'Oreal, Rituals
Kerastase is nice. It's Spanish I think.
I use Nizoral, which I'm pretty sure is made in the UK.
I prefer the other Rocher, far easier on the digestive system

As an Aussie I feel obligated to say I never had seen Aussie before until I was on holidays in Canada. I found it bloody hilarious.
This is a body wash rather than a shampoo, but I use Wild, they're based in the UK.
Kiwi, but
I miss the cheap big gallon jugs of egg cream shampoo you could buy in the 70's. /s
I use plastic free "Eco Warrior" shampoo bars made by Little Soap Company Ltd (UK).
For dyed hair, Attitude makes a specific range of hair care products. They're a small Dutch company
Der-med.
Oof, haven't checked prices recently but above names make my "expensive brand" sirens go off
God damn it, pantone is the only shampo that has really been able to tame my hair, and i litteraly bought a head and shoulders bottle 2 days ago.
I love polish brand Ziaja, but I will be Testing a Shampoo form Yves Rocher which I got for free 🤭
Lavera, an eco-brand from Hannover (Germany)
I love the own brands form Rossmann (German but starting to expand) and for shampoo specifically have mostly switched to solid bars. Gels only for travel 😉
I'm OOTL, what's wrong with H&S? (Besides not being European)
Arbre vert has been treating my hair pretty well
Must we turn to OG Nazis to get away from modern fascists?
once nazi always nazi, eh? Just let us germans rot then, jeez...
