[Bug] Thunder has started locking up on me today.

When scrolling the feed or opening a post, the app has suddenly started freezing and there's no option other than to close it completely. But it will very quickly lock up again.

This is on Android using a Pixel 4a.

Thunder contributor here. We've noticed this issue as well. We think we know what the issue is. Still talking it over with everyone to decide short term fix while we figure out a better long term solution.

I'm having the same issue. It seems to be when scrolling past certain posts and the app is trying to load their thumbnails.

I also have this issue on both my old phone and my new one (pixel 7a). It seems to be related to loading thumbnails. Maybe it hangs due to the instance taking too long to respond.

I have discovered a sort of workaround: when it hangs press home then open Thunder again. It will be all black but will re-render when it comes back, so you can instantly tell when it is no longer frozen. Note that navigation still goes through, so swiping while the app is frozen will scroll the feed and maybe even vote on posts

I've tried that but it just hangs on a black screen and never comes back for me. 🙁

Have you tried clearing app cache and storage from android settings? Doing this will revert any settings changes to defaults though, so be warned

I've cleared the app cache (which was surprisingly large!) and force stopped the app, which usually fixes any app issues I have but not this time.

I guess I could try clearing storage, though I'd rather not. 😄 It's weird how it's only started happening in the last couple of hours.

Pixel 4a running the latest version of Android 13.

Thunder is the latest version from the Play Store.

Very odd. What version is in play store as i have not had much reason to use it in the past 4 years.
