Upcoming Upgrade to 0.19.9

Hello SJW community!

I will be conducting an upgrade to the lemmy software this coming Friday, March 21st at 8:30PM EDT.

During this time we will be upgrading to lemmy version 0.19.9.

Users can expect up to 60 minute of downtime for the upgrade to complete. As always will do my best to do it in less time.

I'll be providing real time updates on our matrix channel throughout the process for those interested or who just want to keep me company.

Thank you all for being part of the fediverse and this instance.

They use a bunch of instances. Not sure why they're being so obvious about it by using the same username everywhere, must just be someone out for the lulz. I'm not even convinced it's the same person, probably a bunch of people meming around at this point.

Nicole is a well known spammer, they spammed DMs to many people here saying their name was Nicole and to meet them in various social spaces. They made hundreds of alt accounts on many many instances.

The Fediverse's first big spam campaign, sending DMs on Mastodon, Lemmy and I think others with messages begining "Hi I'm Nicole, you can call me the Fediverse Chick..."

I forget which instance it's on but you can find a community out there called "Nicoled" for more details. My best guess is it's a pig butchering scam, others have suggested it's a straightforward 419 (especially since it started soliciting crypto) or a harassment campaign against the girl in the photos, or an attempt at account de-anonymization...don't click any links, don't look at any photos, don't interact, don't send it any money, don't drink the water, don't even read this comment. Hey, what did I just say?! You read it, didn't you? Great, now what are we going to do?

There was like one low-priority intermittent image upload bug for like a couple weeks maybe a year ago… since then like PERFECTION and MASSIVE uptime. Wowwwww Dude seriouslyyyy! :D

Currently I'm facing the issue that on the default web client, most full-scale pictures federated from other instances are broken. They immediately show up as the broken-image-placeholder.
