This is a great piece. Most of Lemmy won't like it, because frankly, they're right about Democrats. And as we all have seen since the election, Democratic voters have no interest whatsoever in confronting what they actually support.

Before the 1980s, the one thing that was keeping the vast majority of the American public compliant and unquestioning was that a certain quality of life and social services in America appeared to exist in a basic form. There were ostensible safety nets in income, health, education, and family life to keep the bellies full, the bed warm, and the eyes on the television enough that Americans wouldn’t start asking questions. But since the 1980’s, the Party has had to up the ante on the gimmicks to subvert the fact that there has been very little discernible difference between Republicans and Democrats when it comes to enacting and enforcing policy, domestically or internationally, that benefit (or at least don’t harm) 99% of the American public and the world.
