My state has finally taken to allowing native grasses and other plants to grow in order to benefit monarch butterflies. They only mow twice a year to help promote growth. I've been complaining for years about how it's a waste of money and looks terrible. Now it looks amazing with all of the variety of grasses and flowers growing.

That's very very true! Here's one looking its best without the photographer adding an unrealistic blue sky in post:

That's why you never see Scottish people camping, just lost english people drawn mistakenly in by the thought of a treeless paradise

*wasteland

The reason so much of Scotland is treeless is because humans deforested it and killed off the apex predators, meaning that animals such as deer are free to eat saplings and prevent regeneration

We're talking thousands of years ago though, half of scotland was deforested before the Romans' came

That is true, but until very recently it hasn't exactly gotten better

Thin Lizzy? Hell yeah, I'll happily see him in court as long as he brings his guitar

That's how litigious rock stars get you!

Fun* fact: Lars Ulrich has amassed more than twice as much wealth personally suing fans for mispronouncing the name of his city of birth Gentofte than he ever earned being the drummer of Metallica!

i will never understand why people insist on mowing grass so short, what the fuck is the point of having it if you're going to cut so short you're partially plowing the soil??????

27

Right? I have my mower on the second to highest setting. If you mow it too short you're just letting the soil dry out faster.

5

You mow your grass short to make your neighbour's grass look too long

You reached the end
