I'm here for an SDDM replacement! This is exciting!
Would be cool if the SDDM replacement also functions as the Plasma lock screen, and takes over when you lock your user session. The current user switching experience is pretty awful.
YES!!! It's weird as is.
Looking forward to it. I've only had problems trying to customize it in the past, so SDDM feels really disconnected to the rest of Plasma.
Same here. I really hope whatever they are cooking is embedded into KWin so you can have a smooth transition from login screen to desktop.

People don't realize that they don't need to use all the features.
SDDM doesn't get nearly as much love as it needs. So I guess this was inevitable.
Not quite anything to get excited about yet.
What's wrong with SDDM? I thought everything used lightdm or gdm3 now...

You can't even change brightness on lockscreen when using a notebook or laptop.
As someone who runs multiple desktop sessions at once, each on a different virtual console, sddm is a continual pain in my workflow. Notably:
im not up on the latest lore admittedly but looking at the github repo, it seems there has been little activity in terms of new code. Its also not well integrated with KDE despite it being primarily used by KDE Plasma.
IDC about what it does please just make it look cool and customisation.
This won't be a fork of SDDM, it wouldn't make sense for KDE to fork it's own software
