Neil deGrasse Tyson would be the closest in today's age that I'm aware of (I don't track astrophysicists...sadly lol). Tyson however always seems like he has a much bigger ego so he's definitely a bit of a distant 2 behind Sagan.

I thought NDT was Catholic or something though

Edit: I’m wrong, never mind.

Forrest Valkai has a very different style, and mostly about evolutionary biology instead of space, but is pretty cool. Nobody else has successfully gotten me excited about mitochondria.

ZenPencils did some great artwork based on a lot of thoughtful quotes over the years he was active.

I recognised Gavin's artwork immediately. It was/is all great stuff. I don't know if you can still order prints but he's the only person I ever ordered a print of anything from.

Damn straight. I've been thinking I should post some of his stuff here, and just hadn't gotten around to it yet. And my favorite one is pretty long, so I'm not sure how well such a big post would be received.

I get that it's best he move on to other things rather than burn himself out on something he's lost the spark for, but I do miss him. I used to look forward to those a lot.

I've never run into someone else that knows about it, let alone two :)
