The four things:

  • Not smoking
  • Doing enough exercise (the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends 150 minutes of moderate-intensity physical activity a week)
  • Eating five fruits and vegetables a day
  • Drinking moderately (which the CDC defines as two drinks or fewer for men and one drink or fewer for women per day).

Had to look up what the CDC considers a standard drink and moderate-intensity physical activity:

In the United States, a standard drink has 0.6 ounces (14 grams) of pure alcohol. The amount of pure alcohol in each drink depends on the alcohol content, or percent of alcohol by volume (ABV). One standard drink is equivalent to:

12 ounces (340ml) of beer with 5% alcohol.
8 ounces of malt liquor with 7% alcohol.
5 ounces (227ml) of wine with 12% alcohol.
A shot or 1.5 ounces (43ml) of liquor or distilled spirts (80-proof liquor).
80 proof means the liquor has 40% alcohol.

Moderate-intensity physical activity:

The talk test is a simple way to measure relative intensity. In general, if you’re doing moderate-intensity activity, you can talk but not sing during the activity.

Walking briskly (3 miles per hour or faster, but not race-walking)
Water aerobics
Bicycling slower than 10 miles per hour on primarily flat or level terrain without hills
Tennis (doubles)
Ballroom dancing
General gardening

So yeah, I'm definitely behind on fruit/vegetables and physical activity, but I more or less meet their recommendations for alcohol and smoking. It's something!

If it's an alternative for you, I can recommend bicycle commuting as a fairly easy means of adding everyday moderate exercise. Despite the risk of car drivers attacking you with their vehicle, it's healthy enough to be linked with a 47% reduction in all-cause mortality (source).

Unfortunately, I don't have a commute. I do all my grocery shopping on foot, though, so it could be worse.

  • Not smoking

Check

  • Doing enough exercise

Quadruple-check

  • Eating five fruits and vegetables a day

This one is a bit vague to me - what constitutes a unit of fruit or vegetable? My default lunch option is a chicken salad, which I guess should cover it?

  • Drinking moderately

I drink fairly rarely, but I do indulge a bit when I actually do drink. My weakest point out of the four

I would consider all american government organisations compromised during the current administration america has so I do not consider then credible sources and suggest other people do the same

What's your endgame here? Are you claiming that the exercise guideline is inaccurate? Because that's the same as what WHO recommends. Or is it the alcohol one? I'm fairly convinced the rest of the world's health organizations claim the same (perhaps they recommend less)
