I didn’t even consider the actual impact of the asteroid. It just feels like with all the everything happening, humanity is very tired.

It's quite ironic, IMO. A lot of Americans are lamenting the decline of their country but then fall into the same selfish "America is the whole world and is all that matters" mindset as the people who are causing the decline in the first place.
Indeed. The US has gone to shit. If everyone there simply left, then would find their quality of life improve ten fold. Sadly, that is not an option for most.
