In 2 weeks, it'll be ten years sober.

I don't want to write a novella, but it's been a hell of a ride. From sleeping on a mattress on the floor wearing all my clothes and still being cold, to a relatively regular existence.

A lot of the time, its been a one man show so to speak. And I'm really fucking proud of my accomplishment.

Fuck giving up on what you want and your dreams.

And fuck anyone who tries to bring you down to their level.

You have a lot to be proud of! Onwards and upwards!

6

Congrats on your efforts and mad respect for getting to this point. It can’t have been easy but I’m glad it’s working out.

5
aussie.zone

I'm proud of you, man. I've been there myself and it's not easy. Heart of a lion 💪🏼

5
aussie.zone

Thats a bloody hard road to travel, you deserve to be proud. Congratulations and well done.

Need to share my joy of fucking nailing it

Everyone agrees the cheesecake is the bomb! Aww yiss! Got the security tag off too after googling what kind it was and working out it was just a beeper tag (used the "forks" method with needle nose pliers to clip the wire). 💪🏼

We would like to file a complain to the Weather Manager.

Your call is important to us. Due to unusually high demand an operator is currently unavailable. Please listen to several hours of aggravating musak while we clip our toenails.

aussie.zone

Yeah! I mean I appreciate that it's not stinkin' hot but can we have a bit more of the in-between weather instead of strobing from too hot to this? I love the rain but it sucks if you're planning on doing stuff, and I've got Mount Washmore to tackle!

6

I just keep using my crappy secondhand poor efficiency dryer :(

I don’t have the energy to hang stuff anymore and would forget things to be rained on or bleach in the sun

The extra Saturday is for finishing up all those jobs we didn't get round to yesterday. Sunday has been omitted due to lack of interest. Monday I regret will still happen.

5

I had to work yesterdays Saturday, I could certainly use another one to get the housework done so I can relax on Sunday

Just started watching Severance and it's GOOD. Today will be spent watching an episode whenever I lose the willpower to do stuff (about 20 minutes, on average).

5

Ignore the theorists and just watch and enjoy . I have found eventually everything gets explained.

Sometimes a cigar is just a cigar. 🙂

I’m not even watching Severance

I’m out of the loop on everything

Worth checking out if you're so inclined. But very very depressing in the current climate

3

Bought a new to me bike. A cheap racer. Save me lugging and parking my steel touring bike around town. If the cheap racer gets pinched, it's a bother but not the end of the world. Spent the day setting it up. Unfortunately my marathon tyres don't fit so I'm sticking with the 23mm contis it came with.

9

Called in sick tomorrow. The party yesterday was great, but we're too fuckin' old for 12 hour ragers now....

Morning cuddles were lovely. I was holding Melbcat fully in my arms as we slept, kind of cradling her. I ruined the moment when I got up to do her meds but it’s just such a strong bond.

I really hope she’s with me for years to come because I don’t know what I’m going to do without her.

::: spoiler Urge to hoard power tools I had a brain wave and went on eBay. I don’t need much in the way of power tools so found a knockoff rotary tool for under $30 and it has a drill bit included. (If I need different sizes later they’re universal right?)

I specifically looked for the rotary tool with cutting discs because I also wanted to cut plastic tubs down to make larger more shallow litterboxes that are easier to step into.

The only problem is something so cheap is usb charged. Not sure if battery, probably.

And there’s the risk of either never getting around to it or stressing us both out with noise and/or cutting a finger off. I have cheap safety glasses and ear mufflers but no safety gloves.

I would try the tutorial I saw that used a heat gun or a hairdryer to soften before cutting but my hairdryer would die before warming the plastic much and a heat gun is more expensive. Also the heat gun might be more dangerous and the sharp box cutter could slip.

I have a mini hacksaw but there’s a chance that the plastic would crack. Perhaps I can try it out on the thick rigid seedling-trays-turned-litterboxen first, just so Melbcat doesn’t have to bend her little knees as much. Maybe it could work. :::

We did this with a bread knife for our old fella. The box was from petstock I think, and we have a mat in front in case litter gets scratched out. It wasn't hard to cut through, and I used a nail file to clean up the edges.

7
Catfishreply
aussie.zone

I did something similar when a long departed had a broken leg. Temporary situation though.

4

We still use ours, even though the old fella has been with God for 3 years. It was handy when the newbies were babies and we've just stayed with it. Its not one they use often though.

4
aussie.zone

You could try heating up a metal knife and going through the plastic. Oven mitts should give enough insulation.

5
aussie.zone

Alternative option for a large shallow litter box - try one of those cheap variety stores that sell lots of plastic containers. You might get lucky and find something in the shape you need. Another option, would a large size pot plant tray do the job? Bunnings sells them separately to the pots.

3
aussie.zone

That’s a good idea, that’s what I was shooting for when I bought the seedling trays. I’m not seeing anything the right size or shape yet but might try to go in person and look

2
aussie.zone

I've used an under-bed storage tub, the sides were about 12cm high but the width & depth were about the same as the standard 60L tubs you see. I think from Bunnings.

Easy for cats to step in and out of and big enough for them to properly move around. It held about 7kg of litter.

3
aussie.zone

Trying to look at what type you mean

They need to withstand scratching/digging and a lot of pee

3
aussie.zone

Wax lined fruit box free from a green grocer. Then you can cut down one of the sides to how you want and what's comfortable for puss. Line it with heavy duty plastic sheeting.

Melting plastic will cause bad fumes if you're sensitive to smells.

3
aussie.zone

Ah ok, she might scratch through the liner but I’ll keep it in mind

2
aussie.zone

I meant make a prototype before you buy or modify something because we all know cats can be picky.

2

Such an easy HD upgrade today. So pleased, although not having a big HD to begin with made it a quick process...

But thermal paste. Oh my lawd, thermal paste that has not dried. Cleaning that up. May it never happen again.

6

I bought a brand new apple pencil from a pawn shop so I could use it to draw notes on the music sequencer app.

Charging now. Hopefully it works.

Also got this cool keyboard that plugs into the ipad

5
tombruzzoreply
aussie.zone

Ooh, a minilab. It will be worth plugging that in and seeing what it can do. I have the keystep and it's a pretty great sequencer

3

I've always wanted a keystep! I went through this modular synth phase where I was going to build a rack lol

The mini lab is pretty decent with the ipad. Doesn't draw too much power and seems to work with all the apps.

It's a bit of fun if I'm huddled up in bed and don't want to get up to go to the studio.

Did Zero Latency with some friends today. It was a lot more fun than I was expecting. A fun 40k hoard shooter campaign that was pretty enjoyable. I wonder if there's ever been a Killing Floor game there

5

The depth of my 40k knowledge is playing the original Space Marines. It was fun and you really felt like a space marine for the playtime

I finished watching Southland a few days ago and that was a BRUTAL end to a brutal series. I needed a break and as much as I love watching Severence and The Pitt weekly they're not exactly easy watches...

So I started A Touch Of Cloth. It's the perfect antidote. Same era as the last season of Southland but chock full of old school Airplane!-style daggy humour and bucketloads of puns. What a thoroughly silly show 😆 "Natasha rang from the mortuary, says it's big." "Yes, I've been there before"

E: it's also such a send up of Line of Duty in particular. Great Susan of Nazareth!

I started watching Bridget Jones's diary movies because I'd never seen them. They're ok but a little frustrating.

Totally forgot it was St Kilda Fest... Trying to get out of closed off streets... So glad I was not driving. Bit of a cool evening for a ride, but better than nothing. I am Garfield on Mondays and I know it'll be fine, but I am just not looking forward to tomorrow. I'd started a little morning walk routine, but that was out the window last week due to starting back.

I also can't believe we're halfway through February. I have too much life stuff to do... LOL, yeah, privileged problems... I just really don't want to adult.

I always tried to get out of St Kilda during the festival when I lived there.

6

I have not been in years. Admittedly, I did have a good time when I went, but now... I can't people.

5

When I was a local it turned the area into a drunk street mess. It's already a pretty touristy place, adding a few thousand rowdy street drinkers ruined it for me.

do you have any memory of what you do at work?

1

I ordered food from the nearby noodle place for valentines day and I just don't go to that place enough. It's a good feed, but probably because it isn't open ridiculously late I never think to go there for food

4

I napped through the day -_- Woke up to see that Melbcat had taken herself to her bed in the patch of sun.

She’s back with me now. Hasn’t eaten her wet food and seems to have tummy pain, but she did eat a lot of her biscuits and her eyes have narrowed to normal slits! She’s avoiding obstacles and is bothered by fluttering fingers near her face so I’m hoping that her vision isn’t hugely damaged. The vet might have a better idea of how much she can see.

Edit: She’s getting all her routine shots tomorrow at the clinic so will be too stressed for an accurate read but I’ll organise a home visit for a blood pressure check this week

I can hear sirens for the hazardous material incident on the Monash (Vic emergency).

I can't brain the old crochet swimwear patterns. Nevermind support, how would this stay on at all if wet?! Soggy saggy mess.

2

They’re apparently decorative ie. meant for show and not for swimming.

Silly if you ask me

No Denis, everyone/the whole of America weren't doing illegal shit, weren't doing drugs, weren't rebels. It was just you and the rest of your arty white mates.

I do like how he chose he chose pop songs and used the lyrics as narrative for the movie

and America really is beautiful

and having a great camera man helps

lots of improv and unprofessional actors

themes? they were already free
