I had over 10k karma on my old account, it is a meaningless feature and a sign that you need to touch grass.

This and the waves of thirst bots "following" you every day pretty much makes this a non issue.

Is my karma of 10k?

What does this supposed to mean? I honestly don't see any utility on this lol.

8

Yes, it's mostly the sum of your upvotes. Anything over a few hundred is useless, it helps see if you're a bot to prevent you from posting to big subs

I have 45,581 karma. It’s just internet points. Doesn’t really mean anything.

8

It would only mean something if you could cash out in real money lol

4

The only point of karma and account age is to be able to post in subreddits that have minimum karma requirements and so people don't think you're a shill. But if you don't plan to post anymore, there's not anything to regret.

I've lost multiple accounts with karma in the six figures to bullshit bans. I don't care. If Reddit cares so little about it's users, then why should I care about my karma & long standing accounts?

5

Yep that is one reason to leave Reddit account as just build up bullshit bans usually in a thread asking why don't you like xxxxx

I dumped four of my accounts ... one had 200,000 karma ... two had 50,000 karma and one had a few thousand

I felt like Darth Plaguis The Wise

Might want to keep accounts for a bit to vote in community polls for what communities should do

5

I'm waiting until the API changes actually take place to delete my account. I want it to be clear they are still bleeding users weeks from now.

5

Honestly it's for the best. Don't dwell on the past, these are different times so look forward

4

I have to think that supply-wise, now probably isn't the best time.

I didn’t delete mine yet, but I know that I have 5.4K karma. No idea if it’s a lot, what to do with it or what it does.

3

I have roughly 26,000, which is honestly pretty sad. At the very most, all it does is allow you to post on certain subs. It can act sort of like captcha. Otherwise, it does absolutely nothing but encourage addiction.

4

Lmao, almost certainly going to be me on July 1st when the 3rd party apps die. 120k+ comment karma down the proverbial drain; though I'm liking Lemmy, so don't think I'll be that upset if I do it.

3

Well, I'm about to do that in a day or two after I sort some things out. This will definitely affect me as 90% of my karma is from Prequel Memes.

Does deleting a reddit account also means deletion of post and comments tied to that account?

1

I'm pretty you can still see them, but your username won't be shown. It'll display as "[deleted]"

2

Not as far as I know. But you could use something like PowerDeleteSuite to delete/edit all your comments before deleting your account. That's what I plan on doing. Just turn all my posts into Lemmy advertising, or just to tell Spez to go fuck himself. ;)

Edit, whoops, didn't see how old your post was. But hopefully it still helps!

@brihuang95 all i'm reading is a bunch of children continuing their pathetic little childish tantrum.
