What's your favourite downtown (or near-downtown) coffee shop for just relaxing with a book for an hour or two?

I really like the coffee at Le Monaco near Gastown, but the chairs aren't terribly comfortable. Where's another good go-to spot?

Not exactly near downtown, but the place with the best pastries is Thomas Haas in Kits. Sit down, get a croissant and a coffee, and enjoy.

Speaking of outside downtown. The UBC Bean around the world is 🔥

Breka is a Vancouver staple and I won't hear anyone trashing it

My only gripe about any Breka location is the difficulty grabbing a chair during the busy hours. If you can get a table, it's great.

Used to be called Pacific Coffee Roasters, but the coffee shop just outside the VPL on Georgia is quite nice

Called 'Lovelarte' now.

Didn't even close the doors for the changeover, new signage just showed up one day and branded patio umbrellas the next. I couldn't tell if it was a name change or a management change, but to the best of my knowledge it was never up for sale / re-lease.

Coffee still sucks, but the space is lovely.

Yeah, I ended up stopping by this weekend. I actually thought the mocha I had was decent, but YMMV

Ooh, I forgot about that one. I was pleasantly surprised by the vibe there. Might head there later actually.
