Not sure if thats a parody of Gamers complaining about "ugly" women or if they are serious and also stupid on the same level

Original Chuddish: "Hire fans lol"

Translated to English: "I've never once seen a real woman from up close (they always run away and call me a freak)"

Am I alone in finding the "fan" image for Ciri even more off-putting than the original one, even if Ciri was doing something where attractiveness was relevant? People who wear that much makeup end up in the uncanny valley for me.

There's no forcing. I actually didn't look in the mirror my first playthrough and I stand by that choice

Wait a minute, he looks different if you don't look in the mirror in his apartment? I think it's time I replay this game...

17

Not different, it's just fuzzy and you can't make out the face, I did the same thing in one of my playthroughs

Original portrait:

After looking at the mirror (don't):

Shaved:

If you manage to get rid of the Expression:

Shaved, no Expression:

For some reason you also get a custom portrait if you go fascist enough:

And shaved fascist:

I don't know why but the blurry portrait creeps me tf out

Games are fantasy and I fully support whatever you like to see. Want to see skimpy women? Excellent! Want to see Giga Chad dudes? You go girl! Want to see beat down dirty protagonist? That's a-ok!

This whole fighting and shaming for fantasy role-play needs to stop.

I actually thought this kind of degenerate nonsense was someone joking but today I saw a mod for Baldur's Gate 3 to make Gortash "handsome," so I'm obviously out of touch.

30

Gortash actually is supposed to be younger and more attractive, according to the narrator at several points.

i still haven’t finished this game because i don’t want it to be over. even though i haven’t played it in months, i can take comfort in knowing im not truly done with it

There's more to see if you go through it as a different "character"

my problem goes deeper than you might initially expect. i have made many many characters for this game. however, none of them have finished it

I sympathise with you here, and I won't urge you to finish it (because I know it's not that simple), but I do hope that you are able to some day, because the ending of the game is one of the things that is dear to my heart in the game (I am curious at what the furthest you've gotten in it is). It's not even that the ending is good — the reason I love it is because of how it hurts: it hurts because it means the game is finally over, and it also hurts because the characters in the game don't get the closure of an ending. Disco Elysium actually feels tremendously hopeful to me, but it's a weary, desperate kind of hope, because Revachol is sick and struggling; Martinaise, depressing shit hole that it is, reminds me of home — I say this with equal parts bitterness and affection. You would probably take away something different from the ending than I did, which is why I hope that you are able to experience it some day.

Un jour je serai de retour près de toi

Hearing the first three notes of Instrument Of Surrender is still enough to send me into a melancholic episode.

I still haven't finished this game because the variety of choices and behavior gives me paralyzing FOMO

yeah i have been having that problem too. i kept making new characters and reloading saves to see what would happen. i know it ends up making the experience worse but i just can’t help myself. i need to know. i also need to have all the fun stat boosting items and then i find myself optimizing the fun out of the game.

I literally only finished the entire game recently because of that. I would go for 2 or 3 days then start over and do everything entirely differently. I have now pretty much seen every single way you can play through the game. Every success and failure, every cop-o-type, etc. This is how a narrative-driven RPG should be. Everything down to what you're wearing can change things dramatically.

What really got me hooked was playing with a super high Encyclopedia skill so you get pages and pages of world building exposition with almost every action or dialogue option you do. The world the game is set in is gnarly!

Shaven, Expression-free Harry gives me some early Sam Vimes¹, (and by extension Harry Callahan²) vibes:

There might actually be a good cop under all that pain and damage.

1 — From Sir pTerry Pratchett's Discworld books. 2 — From the Dirty Harry film series.

OG joel looks better. Only reason the new guy at the top looks better is because hes vaguely reminiscent of luigi

A male protagonist should always look like he either just fucked a bear, or got fucked by a bear. The one on the left meets both of these criteria and is passable.

The funny thing is that conventionally its the left one that was attractive. Todays standards for men are actually more traditionally feminine. I dont really care but its funny to find gaping holes in logic like this.

Get up now, grab one from the dresser and tie a full Windsor, one try, no YouTube tutorials.

See why the skill check?

What the fuck are you talking about you can't customize your character?

You can customize your starting stats. You can customize your outfit. You can even customize your Police style by saying enough things about communism, or apologizing a lot.

Not enough, I expect the Dark Souls character creator to be in every game I play. If my character has a nose and it doesn't look like a fucking battleaxe - is the game even worth playing?

(Yes, it is. I love Disco Elysium, I just love making horrific monstrosities too.)

My first death in this game came from succumbing to a massive heart attack while trying to acquire/equip said tie.

Harry is someone that already exists and has relationships in the world, usually those sorts or RPGs don't let you customize much. It's like Geralt or Link. But you do get to develop your personality more through dialogue.

As for the tie skill check, the rest of the game is better about saving skill checks for more difficult tasks. It's just there at the start to reinforce how much of a mess your character is. You can come back later when the negative modifiers clear and it's easier.
