I like this idea from a practical getting into shape prospect. I got an under desk elliptical but I really wish it was setup to charge a phone or battery- then I’d really feel like I was getting something tangible out of the work put in.

Yeah I feel like it could be a nice motivator. Like can I do it enough to be the sole source of my phones charge.

The process of filling the empty tanks to 100 psi takes 5-10 pedaling sessions per day for roughly a week.

Compared to 5 minutes when using electricity, it really puts things into perspective.

Generally for extended periods you would pedal with something like 100 - 200 W while small electric compressors seem to be in > 1 kW region (and don't get tired as quickly :D).

So basically with pedal power you could feasibly run some led lights and portable electronics but anything beyond this is not practical.
