People have no idea how understatimated is the New Year Eve celebration in Iceland! This is pure madness! People are just for the fun over here! Fireworks for hours and people plastered and happy
Thousands of industries worldwide release thousands of times more chemicals in a day than a firework display ever could. It's fine.
Out of all the sources of pollution, I'd wager fireworks should be near the bottom of our list of concerns.
Though I wish more safety measures around them were introduced, both in terms of manufacturing and usage.
Pretty pathetic this year in West Seattle. I heard a feeble burst of fireworks right at the stroke of midnight, then a couple minutes of sporadic booms and that was it. Usually it starts earlier and goes on for a good half hour. And I don't think it was even raining. Not that I blame people for low morale.
