On a lathe? Doesn't make sense. Maybe on a crucible or dewar or something...

Sometimes I throw the chuck just to feel something.

Employee breaks something: loses money equal to the damage

Employee makes something: gains money far below profits

I am not a career machinist -- but I have a tiny manual 10" lathe and I'm terrified of it.

I got a 5 inch cordless bandsaw recently. It's fucking gnarly. Yes I'm scared of it and I should be. By the way if you ever need a body disassembled...

Seriously though even little stuff can fuck you up. My friend was using my 20v hammer drill to put a hole in a wall in a tight spot and it caught something and spun. He got knocked in the chin by the belt clip. He couldn't eat normally for a month.
