PeerTube mobile app : discover videos while caring for your attention

PeerTube is a decentralized and federated alternative to YouTube. The goal of PeerTube is not to replace YouTube but to offer a viable alternative using the strength of ActivityPub and P2P protocols.
Being built on ActivityPub means PeerTube is able to be part of a bigger social network, the Fediverse (the Federated Universe). On the other hand, P2P technologies help PeerTube to solve the issue of money, inbound with all streaming platform : With PeerTube, you don't need to have a lot of bandwidth available on your server to host a PeerTube platform because all users (which didn't disable the feature) watching a video on PeerTube will be able to share this same video to other viewers.
If you are curious about PeerTube, I can't recommend you enough to check the official website to learn more about the project. If after that you want to try to use PeerTube as a content creator, you can try to find a platform available there to register or host yourself your own PeerTube platform on your own server.

Peertube is one of the best coming Youtube alternative, it only needs creators...
It also needs people hosting instances. The majority of the time when I want to view a video that's hosted on Peertube I find that it is no longer available. Hosting video is expensive and this is going to be the biggest hurdle for the platform to overcome.
Yeah it's expensive and it should be distributed around the people, decentralized. Without ads it's harder but possible if this projects became known to the public
Which is why the Torrenting functionality is important
there's no way for me to upload to peertube from mobile. it needs mobile support.
There is a live-streaming unofficial app on F-Droid. A few other PeerTube apps exist, but the only other one that looks like it might support upload is this one. I don't watch videos much, so I dunno.

That’s timely I was looking for a peertube ios app just the other day.
It's important to note that currently it's in early beta, and in order to avoid playstore and apple store issues you only have access to a curated list of peertube instances.
So for example you can't connect it to your personal instance ATM... This will be available likely on a fdroid version or more widely after they manage to jump the official stores hurdles.
There are a handful of other PeerTube-compatible apps on F-Droid already - just search for PeerTube.
It's pretty good for very early software. A bit more work and I'd probably use it.

Couldn’t figure out how to add my account to the app, and when I tried to give feedback the app launched a website in French (I presume) which said it encountered an error and that I need to sign in.
I don't see a way to upload video from mobile so I'll pass.
This is the initial release of their beta, I would've been very surprised if it had upload capabilities
